Great fun, average food

This is the second year in a row I've taken my son to Sakura for his birthday. He loves it, and it's a whole lot of fun. They serve a huge amount of food and I always walk out stuffed. The best foods are the shrimp and the mushrooms. The lobster was unimpressive. It's quite expensive, but... read more

We have been to another Japanese Steakhouse in the area and I can tell that it was much better experience for us in that other one. This restaurant was close to out house that's why we decided to give it a shot. Yes it was good but not great. The fried rice didn't really taste like fried rice. And the... More

Went with a group. Service was good and the cook was entertaining. The kids at the next table really enjoyed the cooking show. Food was plentiful but nothing special and if anything, a bit over cooked. Would go again with a group as they seem to be able to accommodate large parties but there are plenty of better options in... More

Fabulous anniversary dinner! We took our 2 children--7 and 10 years old--with us and had a ball. It was pretty slow being a Monday night, but our chef, Yoshi, did an outstanding job. We made a reservation for the hibachi part of the restaurant, so can't comment on the sushi, but the front of the restaurant looked very pleasant. I... More

I’ve only eaten here for lunch with large groups of co-workers. They take reservations. It appears there is small sushi bar in the front. We are usually seated in the large area towards the back. The service is prompt. I ensure that I let them know that I don’t want sauces cooked with my meal. That’s the beauty of the... More

A large group of us went out for spouse's birthday. Very accommodating, as they fit a couple of extra table settings for us (14). Good food, good friendly chef. We tipped them (waiter and chef) well (one tip with 25 percent). First timers in our group were both entertained and enjoyed their meal. Friendly atmosphere and will eat here again.

If you are up to great Japanese steakhouses don't try Sakura. It's loud and full of kids. We went there in the weekend and promised not to be back on a weekend. We went there on a week night, there was not much difference. If you have kids, it's a great place; like circus. Sushi side is totally different though!... More

My husband and I met friends here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place is large with two seating areas, but on that day, it was very empty. I enjoyed my chicken teriyaki; it had good flavor. The vegetables served with it where lightly steamed. Our friends enjoyed there sushi very much. We had the pistachio cream dessert, which... More

We love the food and the atmosphere! It is really fun! My kids love to get extra fried rice and we all love the shrimp appetizers.

Sakura is your typical Americanized teppanyaki restaurant. The food is generally good and there is a lot of it. There's a sushi bar up front, too, but the quality of fish is typical of Virginia--not very fresh. The experience depends on the chef you get. Sometimes it's amazing, other times it's just a quiet dude preparing your food.
