Best Persian

Really great kabab and meat generally. Helps to be with Iranian friends to handle the ordering. Salads and sides are a bit pedestrian and the atmosphere is not inspiring but the entre meat dishes are top notch and authentic. This will impress any fans of this type of food who have never been....

If you want to try the best of Iranian food, then you need to visit Shamshiry restaurant. It has long been a family favorite for Persian comfort food. For starter, I ordered Mast-o-Musir, a special Persian appetizer made from creamy yogurt with shallots and Lavash bread. Also, I recommend the Tahdig (the crusty part of the basmati rice) topped with... More

This restaurant has the best Persian food I have eaten in Washington. They do not serve alcohol, which has turned this place into a lunch restaurant. I always go for lunch and fm joy the food.

If you like steak or chicken, this is the place for you. Extremely affordable...absolutely amazing preparation and taste. Don't pass this one up. Not kid friendly at all. This place is always packed at normal meal times, so go in the off hours or prepare to wait in a very small waiting area or order meals for pick up/carry out.

I have eaten at Shamshiry for the past few years. The food has always been good. Service is very efficient and fast. This surprises me because the place is always crowded. The servers are experienced and have been working there for years. They know most of the customers. I recommend the food without reservation. However, do not expect a good... More

Don't even try calling for a reservation; you'll spend a few minutes listening to people argue and then learn they don't provide them. The food is not particularly tasty. There seemed to be a lot of enthusiastic diners there, but not me.

This relatively small restaurant is always full, for good reason. The food is quote good and inexpensive. The portions are also generous - maybe too much, especially the mound of rice that they serve. Cornish hen and salmon kabobs are what I usually get but there are others that are equally succulent. For those who prefer food on the spicy... More

We enjoyed the experience at this authentic Persian restaurant. We have tried beef kababs in other Persian restaurants and the kababs here was the best we have tried to date. They are well seasoned and succulent. The rice was excellent, seasoned in the Persian way but with a nice crispy cover of rice which we had experienced before. Delicious! The... More

The young man assisting us was very enthusiastic about the restaurant and was right on target about how good the food was. My wife split a dish and it was plenty!

Shamshiry has long been a family favorite for Persian comfort food. Start a meal with Panir Sabzi snack-appetizer (flatbread with cheese, fresh basil, green onions, and radish). Their rice is consistently perfectly cooked, the meats are succulent, and one of us always orders the Shirin Polo (rice with candied orange peel, almonds, onions, and raisins). Our daughter lives for their... More
