Don't even try calling for a reservation; you'll spend a few minutes listening to people argue and then learn they don't provide them. The food is not particularly tasty. There seemed to be a lot of enthusiastic diners there, but not me.

This relatively small restaurant is always full, for good reason. The food is quote good and inexpensive. The portions are also generous - maybe too much, especially the mound of rice that they serve. Cornish hen and salmon kabobs are what I usually get but there are others that are equally succulent. For those who prefer food on the spicy... More

We enjoyed the experience at this authentic Persian restaurant. We have tried beef kababs in other Persian restaurants and the kababs here was the best we have tried to date. They are well seasoned and succulent. The rice was excellent, seasoned in the Persian way but with a nice crispy cover of rice which we had experienced before. Delicious! The... More

The young man assisting us was very enthusiastic about the restaurant and was right on target about how good the food was. My wife split a dish and it was plenty!

Shamshiry has long been a family favorite for Persian comfort food. Start a meal with Panir Sabzi snack-appetizer (flatbread with cheese, fresh basil, green onions, and radish). Their rice is consistently perfectly cooked, the meats are succulent, and one of us always orders the Shirin Polo (rice with candied orange peel, almonds, onions, and raisins). Our daughter lives for their... More

If you want to eat Kababs, either chicken or beef, head to this restaurant. We ordered Barg (beef Kabab), Shamshiry (combination of Barg and Sheesh kabab) and Chicken Soltani (combination of chicken skewer and sheesh kakab). Taste wise Barg, Sheesh kabab and Chicken Skewer were good. However Barg was tasteless and very bland. The serve too much rice with each... More

I had the fortune of dining at this restaurant with some friends and was treated to a great dining experience! Although I've spent plenty of time in the Middle East, I've not experienced "Iranian Cuisine", so I didn't really know what to expect. Ultimately, I discovered that the cuisine is characterized by perfectly prepared, skewered meat, rice, and various cold... More

I was in DC on a business trip. A Persian woman I know recommended this restaurant as being the best Persian food in the Washington, DC area. I can't vouch for that since I haven't been to any others. But I can tell you that the food was very good and that there were lots of Persians in the restaurant... More

I visited shamshiry a coupe of years back and in went again latest night while in the DC area, I had the famous chelo kabab with the green rice, and the authentic yogurt drink (doogh) and I wasn't disappointed, the quality of the food was the same as I had it two years back. The waiter Bilal was an excellent... More

The best Persian food in Virginia. Delicious food with great service. The prices for that amount of food is awesome.
