Great breakfast and lunch!

We have enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Java Jacks in Tappahannock! My husband loves their fish and chips and I love their Rueben panini. Their crab cakes and steak sandwich are delicious, too! Sweet potato fries and hand cut fries are pleasing sides! Great atmosphere with friendly service and... read more

Essex county has developed a rich past downtown with many nice small shop but this piece of the past was very tasty. Breakfast was extra special with blueberry pancakes, eggs, and bacon. From the many rooms of old decor to the all glass corner window seat we enjoyed our visit. Very clean, friendly staff I love this place and will... More

A wonderful alternative to chain or institutional restaurants, Java Jacks is like visiting your favorite coffee bar, tea house, or home style lunch diner, maybe all three wrapped up in one sweet little house. Linen table cloths, attractive and friendly waitresses, cosy nooks for private conversation, free wifi, short order cook Maria always on standby! This is a delectable local... More

We stopped here for breakfast on our way home from a busy holiday weekend only to find a very quaint old building with the best lattes and brunch selections. I had the banana walnut french toast with a side of Jacks (fried dough with powdered sugar, much like a benet in New Orleans). the food was Absolutely fantastic!!! Prices were... More

Stopped here for coffee one morning and were pleasantly surprised at finding a full food service. So we sat down for breakfast, were handed a menu with many original choices from "jacks" (fried dough hot and sprinkled with powdered sugar DELICIOUS!) to fruit to entrees made from local seafood. Had the crab cakes and they were wonderful. Not a lot... More

Our office orders from Arnest (Formerly Java Jacks) on a regular basis and lately the quality of the food has not been great. 3 of us ordered the club and received non toasted, stale, white bread with no bacon a few pieces of turkey and ham with mozzeralla shredded cheese and a tomato. Not what we have received in the... More

New owners/name, but the cooks/ staff is the same. Most of the menu is the same as it used to be, which was a gem of a find in Tapp. Been eating here for years... Go for Breakfast, get the Jacks- fried beniets topped with powered sugar. Maria never fails to impress any time of the day- always consistant, always... More

They had great coffee, and the menu was interesting, but I have been there three times now, and I can't say there was anything really special going on. Once, I ordered the crab omelette, and the crab meat was not fresh; very fishy flavor and strong aroma typical of crab meat past its prime. The other two times the food... More

Arnest Seafood is a very quaint little cafe. Don't be fooled by the name, this is more than just a seafood place. We stopped by two mornings in a row for breakfast, which was wonderful each time. Everybody was incredibly friendly, the coffee was frequently topped off, and the food was delicious. What more do you need? Well, I guess... More
