Enjoyable German Food

We love Germany like so many of the other reviewers especially Bavaria. We were visiting friends in the area and were very surprised to find this restaurant in this part of Virginia. I have driven by this restaurant for over 30 years and never stopped to eat. On a recent trip back with family I got off the crowded I-81 on a Sunday evening and decided it was time to stop. We did not have reservations and the place was packed but they managed to get us a table fairly quickly. Glad... More

We LOVE Germany, so we are always looking for something local to give us the feeling of being in the country we love to visit. Edelweiss was kind of authentic, and kind of not. First, the food. While neither of us really love German food, we thought the food at Edelweiss was good (but probably not authentic ... the kraut... More

We are always on the lookout for a German restaurant that can give us the same food and ambience that we experienced in Germany 20 years ago. We visited The Edelweiss Restaurant before Christmas in 2014 and we were not disappointed. There were traditional German christmas decorations and even an accordion player playing and singing carols. What a wonderful experience!

We love German food, Bavarian in particular so going by Staunton every other weekend in I-81 we really wanted to love it because there are so few good authentic German restaurants anywhere in our area but this one was just average - at best. The sauces and meats good German food is known for was just lacking in taste and... More

This is a real German restaurant located in a log house. Downstairs has live music and the gentlemen is great. It can get a little noisy so if you want a little quiet with background music ask to go upstairs. Suggest you call ahead on the weekend. a Fun place to go with friends and great german food

Brings back memories of the type of food you get if you stop along a German highway. Food is fast, comfort food, which is solid and unspectacular. You pretty much know what you will get. Has a nice outdoor porch, though the rich food is probably better to eat on a cold winter's night with a beer. I would not... More

My wife and I had been here many times, but the quality of the food has diminished. We were just there this last mothers day around noon. Not crowded at all, roughly six other tables being served. After receiving our warm bread and water, our entrees came out within minutes! Two orders of Rahmschnitzel and an order for Sauerbraten. Very dissapointed.... More

Food, music, bier, dancing, singing, -- a real Bavarian experience. I sang "In Muenchen steht ein Hofbrauhaus" (3 years at Octoberfest), we requested several other Bayern songs (Annaliese), listened to many others, and had to dance a little. Music was squeeze-box (a couple of types), food was superb (rouladin, Weiner schnitzel). My one complaint was we didn't have time or... More

We love German/Austrian cuisine, and decided to stop here on the way to Northern Va. We are so glad that we did! The food is delicious, our waiter, Walter, was welcoming and fun, and the restaurant is charming, both inside and out. I recommend the jaegerschnitzel and the schweinebraten, as well as their excellent side dishes of red and green... More
