My wife and I had breakfast here on the way to PA. We had heard such good things about Mrs. Rowe's from Southern Living Magazine and from people who had been here. We were seated and raised our eyebrows when the waitress said they didn't serve sweet tea. Automatically we deducted 30 points from their "Southern Cred." We both ordered... more

We arrived late - at closing (we weren't aware they were closing). Service was friendly, but our waiter was new and wasn't helpful with dessert selections. Our food was fine, but nothing special at all. Probably will not return for lunch and dinner, but might give breakfast a try one day. (Take out prepacked entrees, desserts, and side dishes sold... more

I don't normally write reviews but my experience left me feeling very uneasy. My fiance and I stopped at Mrs. Rowes for lunch on our way to Washington, DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. We both ordered the special of the day which was baked chicken. As we sat at a little table by a window waiting for our meals,... more

I purchased their cookbook several months ago and was looking forward to eating there. Our son lives in Richmond, VA and we decided to give it a try the next time we went to visit. We ate breakfast there March 23, 2009. The staff was friendly and the service great but the food was not. The eggs and grits were... more

We ate here on Friday the 13th [an ominous omen]. There is no excuse for: Crabcakes with no crab Brown glue gravy "Rare" steakburger cooked to a brown brick "Southern" pecan pie that is 90% sugar topped with crushed bits The apple sauce was good---the rest was an insult to the taste buds and my wallet. I can't believe the... more

We stop for breakfast at Mrs. Rowe's every time we come to Staunton. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Be sure to buy some homemade cookies and some of their famous apple butter on your way out. more

My wife and always see a packed parking lot outside so we had to try this place. Wow, not what we expected at all. I ordered the fried chicken; it was like eating a shoe. It tasted like it was old and re-heated to order. Also, the tea was served in the smallest glasses you've ever seen. The poor waitress... more

Don't be confused with the buffet up in Mt. Crawford and this family restaurant in Staunton. This is the Rowe's restaurant located just off of I-81 at Rt. 250 - easy off and easy on. We (our family) have been going to this restaurant for years when traveling up and down I-81 and we have always found the food to... more

Erka's review of Mrs.Rowes on 3/18/08 seems to be about the buffet in Mt.Crawford Va. There are 2 locations of Mrs.Rowes, the sit down in Staunton and the buffet in Mt.Crawford on Rt.11. Was at the buffet on 7/08 08.Fried Chicken OK,but salty and a little dry(probably a problem of all buffets) Good salads & sides.Good spoon bread. a little... more
