Yummy home cooking

When you're traveling I-81 be sure to stop at Mrs. Rowe's. Daily specials at lunchtime. My husband and I enjoyed the chicken pot pie which was chock full of tender chicken, potatoes and carrots topped by a cornbread crust. Special came with a garden salad and drink -- all for $8.99. Too full to... read more

This restaurant needs a huge makeover. The food is at best mediocre and their famous pan fried chicken was perhaps the worst I have ever eaten. The side dishes are sad and tasteless. The dining room is dirty with a carpet that was cleaned several years ago. Alas, I wanted to try their famous pies but I must say that... More

We went for lunch, after reading about the pies. 60% of pies on the menu not available. Service slow, actually pathetic. Food - pies just ok. No cream, ice cream offered. Other food - disgusting. Soggy tasteless coleslaw. Stale chips served with tasteless chicken sandwich. Mash potato with gravy - skin on old salty gravy. Baked tomato - sugar, sugar... More

My wife loves their banana pudding. Made the old fashioned way with real bananas, vanilla wafers, and meringue- she always orders it first so they don't run out. I always get a frozen quart of navy bean soup and it is always good later too.

You can always tell a good restaurant by how full the parking lot is, in my opinion. While on a short 2-day business stay in the area, I noticed that the place was packed at lunch on a weekday. I stopped for breakfast the next morning and got great service and very large portions for the money. Food was served... More

This is a long standing establishment that has always been family owned. It features a variety of old-fashioned home cooked meals as well as wonderful bakery items made on premises!

We weren't planning on ending up here, but our first choice was closed. Glad we arrived too late for the first choice. Rowe's is nothing flashy; just basic, low-cost, rib-sticking comfort food, with terrific service. And you cannot beat their pies.

I had a mac and cheese casserole with ham that was excellent. Most places overcook the pasta keeping it warm but this was perfect. My husband had a pork barbeque that he did not care fore because the pork was minced like baby food and had an unusual flavor not to his liking. There was no noticeable bbq sauce just... More

We got off to a rocky start since no waitress came to take our order for longer than expected. When our waitress did arrive she was very apologetic and quick to take care of us. Two of us ordered the open faced turkey sandwiches which reminded us of after Thanksgiving dinner and tasted like it too! The fried chicken dinner... More
