The peach pie was to die for.

Ate there today and had a burger, which was good. My wife had the Cobb salad, which also was good. When it was time for dessert, we found out why this place is famous. The peach pie was wonderful, as I'm sure all their other pies are. My wife said that was the best crust since her mom's, which is... read more

We ate both dinner and breakfast and cannot imagine why this place has so many write-ups in magazines. My dinner salad was expensive and tasteless and my husband's meatloaf was so luke-warm that the sauce congealed on top--not appealing. Our breakfast eggs were overcooked and dry. It is folksy which has obviously attracted the press. But I'd try someplace else,... More

We stumbled across this restaurant on our trip from Green Bank, WV to Charlottesville, VA. When we saw their large parking lot full of cars we knew we had found something special. Despite the number of people waiting to be seated inside, everyone was seated in 10 minutes. The menu is southern cooking at its best. The food was simple,... More

What a treasure. Turned the wrong way and there it was, took me back to the good old days. Food was very good, portion way too generous, and it was "liver" done to perfection. Pies are homemade, try the egg custard. Do need to fix the check paying process, that was way too long, and check out lady could muster... More

Very Southern menu with a few sandwich choices, but the attraction for me is really the pies. Others may prefer other homemade bakery items. Location is a bit tricky if your point of origin/destination is east of Staunton. You have to go north on I-81 at the intersection with I-64 to exit 222 (Route 250 east) to find them.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. They serve everything from crab cakes to fried chicken. The collard greens are melt in your mouth. The pies are their claim to fame and well worth the trip! There are probably fifty different varieties and they don't disappoint. Just do it!

Never expected to find a great restaurant next door to a hotel at an Interstate exit. Had to have Southern Fried Chicken of course, and something new to me, spoon bread. Both were very good and choosing among the dessert pies was difficult! Really friendly waitstaff too. Eat here if you're in the area.

Friendly local restaurant at Exit 222 (US 250) off I-81. Good basic food. The hamburger steak smothered with gravy and onions was very good. Both the collard greens and the pinto beans were seasoned with what tasted like country ham, which may be typical for the area, and the pintos were very good but quite salty. The spoon bread was... Had the pleasure of dining at Mrs Rowe's restaurant while staying at the Best Western Staunton Inn which is within walking distance to Mrs Rowe's. Staff are very friendly, food delicious and excellent sized portions. Prices very reasonable as well.I had a BLT sandwich and a bowl of delicious soup. The sandwich was made on thick sliced homemade wheat bread.... More
