I suspect and assume the food is excellent by others comments....but I couldn't judge that by my visit this morning. A friend had raved to me about their Chicken Salad....so I went on-line to learn their hours and discovered they have two versions of chicken salad. I dropped by this morning and asked the girl if I could purchase a... More

Planned a stop here after reading that their daily specials often include Polyface Farm ingredients. Although we were too late for the lunch special during our visit, both my husband and I had wonderful sandwiches and he had a great cup of coffee, rich and aromatic. We shared a piece of a peach torte that was truly a work of... More

I live in Staunton and love the friendly people and excellent restaurants to choose from and this place has neither. I have given it 4 tries to be fair just in case it was on off day for both the employees and the food . The coffee is very good though and I would recommend that to anyone. The best... More

This is a fantastic bakery (try the walnut wheat bread and rosemary rolls) that also serves an excellent breakfast and not just pastries but homemade quiches with locally sourced ingredients. It is also an art gallery with shows of very good paintings and photos, and they hold outdoor concerts on the back patio in good weather. They started selling their... More

This is French bread in Virginia. Everything they bake is good, the croissants are flaky, the morning bun is not on my diet, but I've heard they're great: cinnamon, yeasty bread, crunchy sugar. A simple beautiful baguette is the real reason to frequent this place unless you came for a sandwich with ham and cheese on a baguette, with onion,... More

Although I had purchased bread from this bakery before, I had never eaten a meal there until today. Unfortunately we had such a bad experience we won't be going back. Eating good bread is just not worth being treated so poorly by the owner of this restaurant. My family, which included a 2 yr. old & an infant, arrived for... More

My wife and I have eaten at the Newtown Bakery several times. The breads and rolls are made from scratch and are excellent. The croissants and other pastries are also top notch. I recommend both chicken salad sandwiches (plain and the fancy version with fruit), and their soups of the day are often very tasty. There are some improvement opportunities... More

If a Staunton local is happy about any one thing, it should be that Newtown Baking is in our town. I frequent this business and not once have I had a bad experience in any way. Delicious bread, breakfast, coffee, pastries. The service is awesome, good location, parking lot and an easy walk if you're downtown.

We stopped in for lunch at this location on the edge of the historic district. We were both very impressed with the freshness and high quality of the ingredients. My wife and I both had ham & swiss on foccacia bread. Although it was the perfect sandwich at the time, I look forward to trying others. The service is friendly... More
