Seven of us happened upon this restaurant while out riding one day. Lucky for us there didn't seem to be an abundance of places to eat in this small town but this place is all you need. Seriously, it was the most pleasant dining surprise ever. When a place has 20+ burgers on the menu, you have to order a... More

The Lafayette Inn had been recommended by friends, so the day after Thanksgiving was a perfect time to take the family out for lunch -with a nice drive. The setting is very nice, an 1840s inn on the main street of a small country town. There is plenty of parking in the rear. The atmosphere inside is welcoming and very... More

We were driving through central Virginia and took the "business route" through Stanardsville, hoping for an interesting lunch. Lafayette Inn is right along the route with easy parking. The staff was friendly and recommended the hamburgers. In fact, most of the lunch menu is devoted to hamburgers. So, we each ordered a different variety of burger and were pleased. The... More

My husband and I pass this restaurant several times per year but we've never stopped in, until yesterday. First, the ambiance is exactly what you would expect from an inn that opened in 1840. We were seated next to one of the fireplaces, which was great since it was cold and raw out. The hostess/waitress was friendly and helpful. I... More

If you are visiting Skyline Drive the Lafayette Inn & Restaurant is a great choice. The inn - small and informal - has an intersting history in Standardsville, a quiet little town near one of the entrances to the Drive. A short distance to the historic sites such as Madison's Montpelier & the cute little towns in the area. The... More

We stumbled upon this beautifully restored Inn after a day of hiking. We took a chance by stopping for lunch. The greeting was warm, the service friendly and professional, and the meal was delicious. The filet sliders lunch was pricy ($17) but worth every penny. They contained the best steak we have eaten. We highly recommend the restaurant and intend... More

A great restaurant in the unlikeliest place. The inn's exterior is unassuming but, once inside, it has a European feel; French, maybe. Dinner menu was creative and delicious. Service was exceptional.

My wife and I visited on a Sunday around noon, during Brunch time. You could order from the brunch, lunch, or burger menus. We had two of their gourmet burgers. My wife had the Charleston Burger, which had a fried green tomato and Creole mayo on it. I had the Alpine Burger, which had sauteed onions and mushrooms and swiss.... More

This restaurant is in an old inn and has nice atmosphere. The wait staff was very friendly. The tables themselves are nice and not too close together. We stopped here for lunch while traveling through. I had the chicken pesto panini and my husband had a burger. Both were good, the burger was a little pricey. I think we would... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Lafayette Inn. Wonderful easy check in process. The staff was excellent throughout our visit. Dinner (the 10 course chef tasting) was amazing. Great food, perfect portions and the wine pairings complimented the food incredibly well. The owner, Alan, was extremely knowledgable and he did a great job leading the dinner.... More
