We just spent an evening in the Jefferson room at the Lafayette Inn. The owner and his wife were very hospitable, and the food delicious. The B&B was the oldest we have ever stayed in, built in 1840, and served as a hospital during the civil war. The room was homey and comfortable with a fireplace, and welcoming Proseco, The... More

Excellent food, prepared and served by Alan Pyles the owner and chef. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, overall a terrific experience. We had the opportunity to enjoy the 10 course chef tatting meal with wine parings and it was fabulous, informative and well worth the price.

Kaye & Alan Pyles do a truly outstanding job of the food with paired wines for their 10 course Tasting Dinner. And, Alan explains each course and the wine which he paired with it. Besides serving gourmet food, their hospitality is above and beyond expectations. And, this is all accomplished in a cozy and very comfortable atmosphere. We highly recommend... More

We ate at the Lafayette Inn on the recommendation of our innkeepers. It is housed in a building dating to the 1840s which has been well maintained. The menu had a good cross section of dishes that were reasonably priced. The salad was very fresh. One of the entrees was the special, a steak caprese (filet/mozzarella/tomatoes) that was prepared well.... More

Stayed here in Oct 2013 and it was a superb stay and dining experience. Very quaint inn with a wonderful, personable owner and chef. Allan did an excellent job of pairing food and wine for a delicious and very sociable evening with several other couples. Allan's wine pairings were spot on and all for less than $15.00 per bottle. Well... More

This inn is located in a small, out of the way town that doesn't even appear on a lot of maps. But it's still centrally located to central Virginia attractions--between the Fredericksburg battlefields (when the government is open!) to the East, Charlottesville and Monticello 30-45 minutes to the South, and wineries all around. We spent two nights here visiting the... More

The Inn is quaint and beautiful. Do the Chef's Tasting dinner if you can. Outstandinf food and wine pairings and very affordable. Great to share the trip with friends if you're all "foodies".

A friend and I were here last week. We had bought a package that included a room and 10 course wine tasting menu. We arrived an hour before check in. But since our room was ready, they allowed it. Within moments, a goody tray with snacks and sparkling wine arrived. The room was tastefully furnished, and very pretty. Now for... More

Photo looks quaint but when you get there is is just old and drab. I will say our server was SO SWEET and so friendly. But the food was WAY overpriced and marginal. I would not go back or recommend this place.
