The chef tasting/wine pairing dinner was amazing. Each course, each bite was fabulous. Alan is an inspired, knowledgeable and talented chef. He creates delicious dishes and his thoughtfulness on how to make each course pair wonderfully with each wine was well on display. The service and timing of everything was perfect and leisurely. We were treated to fabulous food and... More

September 2012 marked the 50th Anniversary for my Mother and Father in law. My husband and I wanted to throw them a surprise luncheon. They live in Southern Virginia, my husband and I live 5 hours north in Maryland. We were looking for a restaurant that would be a half way point that people from both Maryland and Virginia could... This restaurant is located in an historic Inn, making for an inviting and interesting setting. The food was good, and the service was great. The portions could have been a little larger, although we definitely did not leave the place hungry by any means. Would visit again if in the area.

I was skeptical that a small inn in the middle of who knows where in Virginia could live up to the lofty expectations and price tag that comes with an 8+ course meal. Instead, the meal actually overtook my most optimistic prediction. We started with an amuse bouche that didn't even count as one of our 10 courses (so make... More

Ten courses with wines paired nearly perfectly with each course...fabulous. Presentation was impeccable. Alan Pyles' knowledge and friendliness made it very special.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are very nice. The food is great (especially the tasting dinner.) The historic homes are nice and comfortable. We would recommend and will go back.

This was the place I chose to get engaged! Looking back, I couldn't imagine getting engaged anywhere else. I did the cooking demo with the head chef, Alan, in the kitchen for hours. We talked, laughed, and learned. We had various meals throughout the prep-time. Then, during our break between prepping and dinner I proposed at our cottage, right by... More

Amazing food and great hospitality. Alan was most accomodating and a excellent chef. Champagne and a Keurig in the room were nice touches.

My girlfriend and I had a great experience here! It was a perfect little getaway, not too far from Charlottesville but distant enough that we felt like we were getting a break from our everyday lives. We had the eight-course tasting dinner, which was delicious. Alan was very welcoming and willing to accommodate my needs as a vegetarian. I was... More
