A nice quiet place place for German food

We stopped here for lunch on our way home. Since we are not from the area had a little trouble finding the place. Our server was very polite and helpful with the menu. Both our meals were pretty good, my wife had the home fries with her meal and they were very good, I opted for the spatezel and... read more

This is an authentic German restaurant. The owner is from Germany and goes back to Germany every year to visit their family. We have lived in Heidelberg, Germany in the 70 and know what authentic German food should taste like. I highly recommend this delightful restaurant.

Best choice between Old Europe (DC) and Bavarian Chef (Fredericksburg) in regards to quality German food (and more choices) and reasonable price. Need to add more German decor to give the ambience of being in Germany. Never crowded and always great service.

In the Stafford area if you are looking for good German food, Zum Rheingarten is the place to go. The restaurant occupies an older house so the set up is not like the chain restaurants and that adds a little character to your visit.

it's been years since I visited Germany. On a whim, we decided to give Zum Rheingarten a try and we made NO mistake doing so. The food is authentic, the staff attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They have a great wine and beer list that compliments a very complete menu. We started with the soup of the day appetizer which was... More

Having lived in Germany for 10 years, I am hard to impress. The two other German restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg each have their strengths, but need to work on some of their offerings. Rheingarten has both an authentic atmosphere and food. I joined some friends recently for lunch. The restaurant was quite busy, but our server was attentive despite the... More

We previously have gone to Rheingarten, and have had some mixed results. After not visiting for many years, we returned to celebrate our 36th anniversary. They had a special Oktoberfest menu, and we selected a pork shank and a beef roulade. Both entrees were excellent. My wife's pork fell off the bone with just a nudge from her fork. The... More

My wife and were in the mood for a little German cuisine since it's that Oktoberfest time of year. We've been to the original Oktoberfest in Germany and enjoyed the atmosphere, beer, and cuisine. Although there is no way to create an Oktoberfest atmosphere at the restaurant, the food and beer was pretty comparable. My wife had the lamb shank... More
