Description: Serving great American food with a worldly flair, we’re open Tuesday...
Serving great American food with a worldly flair, we’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 3pm for lunch and 5pm to 9pm for dinner. We also serve a lovely brunch on Sunday from 10am to 3pm and dinner from 5pm to 8pm. The atmosphere is at the same time elegant and casual. The richness and warmth of the hand-planed wood-paneled walls provides a comfortable dining experience that can be enjoyed equally in dressy-casual attire or hiking shorts. We are located in the heart of historic Sperryville, Virginia, 75 miles west of Washington D.C., at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We look forward to serving you soon!

Great fresh food - made right in front of you!

Enjoyed fresh salads and local beers! The only time I felt ill at ease was when I saw a tractor-trailer trying to negotiate the turn in front of the restaurant! Quick attentive service and a wonderful lunch!

Husband and I celebrated our 5th anniversary here while staying at Hopkins Ordinary across the street. Last seating is at 8:45pm on the weekends, and I'm very glad we made a reservation. I saw four parties turned away who came in right after us since the place was packed. Steaks were incredibly well cooked. A nice crust on the outside... More

We ate dinner here the first night and can't say enough good things about the food and service. Everything we got was just amazing. You definitely want to eat here at least one night while in the area.

We had dinner here recently and it was excellent. I had a scrumptious pork chop and my wife the superb mussels. Good wine list and homemade dessert. Quite reasonable for this area and we will be back.

The food and ole time store front atmosphere were great. Food was well prepared and service was excellent. Nice friendly and helpful people. The lunch experience was enjoyable. a browse thru the adjoining Corner Store was a pleasant surprise and touched the "foody" in me. Great place for a lunch in the country.

A quaint little restaurant with a special, upscale menu that always pleases. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Located in the histotorical town of Sperryville.

We stayed at a nearby B & B and they made reservations for us for the 3 nights we stayed. We expected it to be more of a diner (and to be fair it does have an upscale diner's atmosphere.) The food was really, really good. My hubby had the kale salad and he is still talking about how good... More

Excellent and unpretentious with the focus on the food quality, not the surroundings. Scallops for husband, and the special of the day, fresh grilled rockfish, for me. Both were well prepared, well-seasoned and piping-hot (food temp is supremely important to me!). Substituted risotto for the rice accompaniment for an up-charge; risotto was good but not as good as the fish... More

The food was still good, but our service was lacking. Drinks were slow to come. One steak was slightly overcooked. Our server never came back to ask how our food was, etc. We will go back and hopefully it will have improved. If not, we will go elsewhere.

The Thornton River Grille is across the street from Hopkins Ordinary Inn, where we spent three nights, and makes a perfect place to wind down after a day hiking in the Shenandoahs. food and service both excellent
