Serving great American food with a worldly flair, we’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 3pm for lunch and 5pm to 9pm for dinner. We also serve a lovely brunch on Sunday from 10am to 3pm and dinner from 5pm to 8pm. The atmosphere is at the same time elegant and casual. Excellent dining

We had dinner here recently and it was excellent. I had a scrumptious pork chop and my wife the superb mussels. Good wine list and homemade dessert. Quite reasonable for this area and we will be back.

The food and ole time store front atmosphere were great. Food was well prepared and service was excellent. Nice friendly and helpful people. The lunch experience was enjoyable. a browse thru the adjoining Corner Store was a pleasant surprise and touched the "foody" in me. Great place for a lunch in the country.

A quaint little restaurant with a special, upscale menu that always pleases. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Located in the histotorical town of Sperryville.

We stayed at a nearby B & B and they made reservations for us for the 3 nights we stayed. We expected it to be more of a diner (and to be fair it does have an upscale diner's atmosphere.) The food was really, really good. My hubby had the kale salad and he is still talking about how good... More

Excellent and unpretentious with the focus on the food quality, not the surroundings. Scallops for husband, and the special of the day, fresh grilled rockfish, for me. Both were well prepared, well-seasoned and piping-hot (food temp is supremely important to me!). Substituted risotto for the rice accompaniment for an up-charge; risotto was good but not as good as the fish... More

The food was still good, but our service was lacking. Drinks were slow to come. One steak was slightly overcooked. Our server never came back to ask how our food was, etc. We will go back and hopefully it will have improved. If not, we will go elsewhere.

The Thornton River Grille is across the street from Hopkins Ordinary Inn, where we spent three nights, and makes a perfect place to wind down after a day hiking in the Shenandoahs. food and service both excellent

We were in the area, saw this restaurant, and decided to stop in. There didn't seem to be a lot of cars outside, so we thought that it wouldn't be crowded. What we didn't realize was that the entrance is in the back of the building, and there was more parking back there that we couldn't see. (Psyched us out!)... More

We stumbled int the grille after hiking in the Shenandoah. we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful atmosphere and fantastic food. We now eat there several times a year and I always look forward to my next visit. The food never disappoints. Their steak is delicious. The atmosphere is just right for couples or families.

It had been many years since I had been to Thornton River Grill. I must say, it is a special place. The food was wonderful. Oyster stew, ribeye salad, & delicious wine. I had no idea how nice the market was connected to the restaurant. I can't wait to stop in & get fresh seafood, produce, & great wine. I... More
