Highlight Restaurant in Sperryville!

You will enjoy this contemporary, relaxed restaurant. Wonderful corned beef reubens, from briskets prepared in-house. The details matter here, delicious vinaigrette, superb coleslaw, never had a mediocre meal here. Great service, too.

The Thornton River Grill is a hidden gem in Rappahannock County, serving local ingredients prepared with skill in an unassuming atmosphere. The large covered deck is delightful in good weather.

Apart from Ruby's Pizza, the only real place in town to get dinner after a long hike in Shenandoah park. Oak wood interior very comfy, not a lot of tables and with service which was a bit curt. Excellent fried goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes seasonal special salad, fresh salads with twists (e.g, spinach salad with melon, blueberries and strawberries), hearty... More

Stopped in Sperryville for dinner and this seemed like the best option. It is quite a fancy menu even though the restaurant is not that fancy. For starters we had fried goats cheese and an arugula salad. The goats cheese came with 3 kinds of chutney but would have been better if it had some kind of cracker or bread... More

Four of us stopped in on this wonderful little restaurant on a beautiful Saturday evening for a impromptu dinner. My friends wanted burgers & salads, and I had the crab stuffed sweet pepper. I'm told that the burgers & salads were excellent. I know that my crab stuffed sweet pepper was phenomenal, with a wonderful Old Bay seasoned creamy sauce... More

What a pleasant surprise to find such a diverse menu and sophisticated food in what I consider a remote location. I am sorry to say that I questioned the server about the Reuben Sandwich thinking that Sperryville is not the "hotbed" of deli. However, it had been recommended so I ordered it. Glad that I did, it was a little... More

Great food! Perfect tenderloin steak and delicious mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Super delicious seared scallop appetizer (only complaint is we wish there had been more than 2 scallops!) Good creme brûlée dessert!!

My wife and I had lunch here recently, and the chicken sandwich and burger were fine. The salad was okay, but the menu's description didn't mention that they were going to dump that cheap, powdered parmesan cheese from a pizza joint all over it. It was fine for a quick lunch. The service was friendly, if somewhat slow and then... More

My wife and I have been going to the Grille off and on for about ten years. We have always enjoyed the food there. It is first rate. However, the service has always been a bit spotty. The last several times we've gone, we've noticed a distinct lack of graciousness by the staff. Last Sunday was particularly bad. Our server... More
