If you're out doing wineries in Hume, Warrenton, Culpeper or anywhere near Rt 211, be sure to plan a trip to Thornton River Grille for lunch or dinner! We dined here after hearing some very positive comments from friends about it and we were very happy with this choice! They are on Open Table (which is GREAT!), so making reservations... More

Small and quaint with delicious menu options and great hand-crafted cocktails. Wine list looked diverse. HIGHLY recommend reservations, as we arrived around 6, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating, even though we did not have reservations. We ordered two appetizers; fried goat cheese (it was fabulous, don't be taken aback by "fried") and mussels in a curry broth.... More

I'm not fond of the basket service but the food and friendly atmosphere makes up for that. The fried oysters are first rate and the shrimp devine

This is very much a local favorite with a busy dinner hour and brunch. The place is friendly and casual -- a little noisy -- and, because the kitchen is open it can get a bit smoky. Portions are generous and the prices reasonable. I'm a local and I've eaten there maybe a dozen times -- never had a bad... More

When ever I want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Washington,D.C. I head West to Sperryville, Va. The good food, great staff and friendly people who you meet there are well worth the trip. For a small restaurant the menu is outstanding.

Good food, good wine, friendly service and ample parking. And there's a general store adjacent to the restaurant in case you need to grab anything else. Double Win!

How lucky we are to have this fine dining establishment in such a rural area! The service is always exceptional, the wine list is great, and the food is consistently good. The menu (and the bread), however, need some work. More variety/creativity with the food would be a welcome change (the last 4-5 times I have been here, the vegetable... More

My husband and I live in an area where we can dine in Washington, DC and it's suburbs, Baltimore, and Frederick, Md. within 30 minutes to an hours drive. We discovered this restaurant thanks to my sister and brother-in-law who live in Luray, Va, about a 30 minute drive from them. I cannot remember the last time we were SO... More

The restaurant is a hidden jewel in a somewhat off the beaten path in a hamlet of < 400 people. We have met friends there on 4 different occasions (each party driving ~ 1 1/2hrs) for dinners and never disappointed by either the the quality of dinner, the friendliness of the staff or the atmosphere. The restaurant is small, intimate... More
