This fairly new store is full of different types of Virginia nuts, all of which you can sample. If you want to buy a "pig" this is the place to do it. We also ate lunch there, which was both delicious and reasonable.

My wife, son and I traveled to this small town on 04/02/2013 just to try something different. Well, we were amazed by this little gem of a restaurant we had lunch in. My wife and I had pulled pork(me) &pulled chicken(her) with my son having the baby back ribs. All were really good with the ribs falling off of the...

I hope you like pork. I mean pork in any form. I assume that's the case if you're in Smithfield. Pork is what you're going to get.
With that being the case, if you want a reasonably priced adventure in Ham and Pork, go to a Taste of Smithfield. While traveling between appointments recently, I drove through Smithfield Virginia and...

I'd been to Taste of Smithfield when it was just a small specialty food shop, but I went again more recently to find that they'd moved into a new, larger location across the street from their old shop. The new Taste of Smithfield features prepared foods, sandwiches, etc., in addition to the large selection of Smithfield Ham and Virginia peanut...

Went there for dinner and enjoyed the pork chop special. Also bought some ham and bacon there to take home.

For a relativly small place there were so many choices but we decided to eat at A Taste of Smithfield . It's a fairly new place with a busy feel...

We called in to shop and decided to eat. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was nice - except it was a bit wet. My wife had the pork chops with sweet potato fries, which she liked. Overall, a nice lunch with really good service.
My husband and I stopped in for lunch and were very disappointed. I decided to try the spinach puffed pastry ($9.99). It was so soggy I couldn't even eat the pastry, and it was cold - looked like it had sat on the counter for awhile. (May have since it took us 45 minutes to get our lunch.) My husband...

My husband and I split the barbeque sandwich and fries. You can shop around at things while you wait for your food. They have alot of peanuts that you try and buy set up.
You must get the Sweet Potato Biscuits!! A treat to take home! They have a neat little peanut shop of every imaginable flavor you can think of, dressings and sauces and the smell of ham when you walk in makes your mouth water! A must stop by!
