If you are looking for fancy anything, do not bother stopping in. If what you are looking for is a great meal, made from scratch on site, cute decorations and wonderful owners, this is your place. Two chicken and one pork BBQ meals, with a side and drink. Portions were more than we should have eaten but, it was wonderful.... More

We took a detour off of I-95 based on the reviews of Hillbilly Red's. If I ever found myself on 295 again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by, but I wouldn't go all the way from I-95 for it. We had the bbq pulled pork sandwich, which was quite large. The pork was tender and flavorful. The cole slaw was... More

This one is sort of strange, you order at the counter and sit down, your meal is brought to you, Good BBQ, great hush puppies too, I did not like the arrangement of ordering first as explained above, it just seemed strange to me

It is Dry Rub and then there is 4 or 5 sauce on the table. The hush puppies melt in your mouth.. The baked beans are homemade with a little kick! I could cut the ribs with the plastic knife that how tender. My husband had the BBQ chicken sandwich and a ton of meat. My son had banana pudding... More

Convenient off the I-295 north. we stopped there looking for good BBQ and got it. did not blow me away with the Q but was OK. I'd rather have this than fast food. The BBQ pork sandwich was good with a vinegar based coleslaw on top. no pickles like NC bbq but pretty ok. Hillbilly reds sauce was sweet with... More

My wife and I were traveling home from a bad experience in Doswell, VA. We decided to take the long way home and visit a few places. We never expected to find such a nice little place on an out of the way road. We do like to take the back roads when we can. Pulling into the parking lot... More

We were traveling from DC to AL and met friends there on our way south. Great BBQ, owners and restaurant. We will plan to stop again another time.

We stopped here for lunch after seeing the review on TA. The interior is nice, and we were greeted by a fantastic woman behind the counter. She gave us some great suggestions. I went with the pulled pork sandwich and my coworker went with the brisket sandwhich. I really liked the pork, it was tender with great flavor. My coworker... More

So I had a taste for BBQ as I landed at the Richmond airport. When I checked at the hotel desk they recommended the typical chain stores. I checked TripAdvisor and found this gem. Great food, decent price, and wonderful service. I can only say so much without seeming disingenuous. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs which was plenty... More

Look: it's a BBQ shack and doesn't claim to be anything but. It serves good BBQ with all that you'd expect: ribs, chicken, brisket, sides. You get nice food at a decent price. But what makes Hillbilly Red's particularly enticing are the owners. They' were warm and welcoming; asked questions, told stories about how they got started; good, down home... More
