Very good, but not really amazing.

A rather nice lunch with my new son-in-law and baby granddaughter. The portions were large, the food was good but not great. Service was fun with their at-the-table tablets, the waitress was smiling and helpful. It really isn't a place I'll necessarily return to, however. The sauces were okay, the... read more

I usually come after work with a group for happy hour, and this place is great! Inexpensive drinks and appetizers, yet delicious all around. And the service is wonderful. Highly recommend!

I've eaten at Abuelo's three or four times. It is a chain and my only experience is with the one in Roanoke -- and it is always an excellent experience. I enjoy Mexican food and eat a lunch or dinner probably once a week. I'm a fan. At best I've always considered Mexican food to be a good value -... More

Food was great! Drinks were great! Service was great! Loved the selection of salsas and the papas con queso. Will definitely go back!

My young diners hate to wait for the food. They do not understand the concept of casual dining. The chips that come when you order are very thin and light and were a hit with my impatient diners. The food is good for a chain restaurant and there is a senior menu with less food for us older folks. It... More

We were looking for Friday's but saw Abuelo's and decided to try it. The place is beautiful. We were seated quickly and Angelique came quickly an took our order. The Fajita Combo was more than I could eat and very good. I am told the Durango was also very good. Server was very nice and friendly. You don't find this... More

Ate too many chips as is the curse of a good Mexican meal. They offered several kinds of salsa and had to try them all. Drinks arrived quickly, menu was huge a took a few minutes to decide an order. My group of 6 ordered items from all across the board, they were all hot and fantastic. Only challenge was... More

Overall, nice dinner. The food was a little cool though, instead of hot. I ordered tacos and my business associate ordered something like enchiladas. The food had a great taste though, even if not hot. The salsa is always fresh and mixing all 3 is really good! The server was a little MIA for quite a while and forgot to... More

Hubby loved it, but I thought it was so so. The salsa's are VERY good though. Very big portions, so go hungry!

Usually chain Mexican restaurants leave a lot to be desired, from oddly seasoned dishes to small portions to not very good values, but this place is an exception. Maybe it was because it was a dreary winter night, but I was seated promptly upon my arrival at around 7 pm. The atmosphere is upscale and it doesn't look like a... More
