We are vegan and let our waitress know, asking for some recommendations. She was extremely helpful and probably one of the most competent, thoughtful servers we've ever had. They gave three differs kinds of salsas at the table which is a nice change from the usual one choice. Our veggie fajitas were excellent - overflowing with fresh vegetables, cilantro rice,... More

We ate here on a Saturday night. The wait was not terrible, maybe 20 minutes. Atmosphere is very nice inside and out. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. We had fajitas for two and were able to chose 4 different meats, as well as 4 different side dishes. We loved the steak and chicken, the... More

Living in TX for 20 years, I was raised on TexMex food. Moving here, I was shocked to find out the food is way different. Abuelos is the only "TexMex" in the area. Very good food. Enchiladas and Tamales are great and fajitas are fab. Prices are about double than what they are in San Antonio but that's expected from... More

Los Mejores de la Casa: bacon wrapped shrimp and bacon wrapped filet medallions. Both cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her margaritas. Service is wonderful and friendly. Get there early! They queue up by 6 pm!

I travel to Roanoke Weekly and always drop by Abuelo's for some Rib-Eye Steak and Enchiladas. The service is excellent and the food has been very good. The Menu can take you some time to get through but I'm a Steak Eater so I stick to that. They have some wood-grilled, bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin medallions and bacon-wrapped shrimp you have... My husband and I stopped for the night in Roanoke last night on the way from Maine to Florida, and had our small dog with us. We drove by this restaurant and seeing tables outside, I ran in to see if they'd seat my dog in the patio area. They said "Sure" and we sat down outside. We were immediately... More

We went to this restaurant after finding raving reviews online. All started well, as we ordered the Jalapeno Fritters. These were fantastic; so we were hoping for better. Then, we order one "The Grade" plate, which has 3 enchiladas and one taco, and a lunch taco and enchilada. The two plates came clearly quite hot and right out of a... More

This food is excellent. More true to New Mexican food than you will find in the east. The chile rellenos are excellent. If you want true New Mexican food, this is the place. Staff is very friendly, service is excellent. We plan to return every time we travel through Roanoke.

Had a 7 hour road trip with my husband for his work and I chose this place to stop for dinner. It was so so good. I had the fajitas and my husband had enchiladas. He said they were some of the best he ever had. The chips and salsa was really good. They do something I have never seen... More

I've never been so disgusted in all my life! Me and my husband wanted to try an establishment that we have never experienced before just something to try out. As we are seated in the area under the sky a moment later we were greeted with chips and a trio of salsas. To make a long story short I see... More
