Although we can't figure out why they always sit us along the back wall, we keep coming back.. Good food reliable chain. Artsy Mexican food. Love the salsas. Always enough to take extra home. Guacamole is good too.

The food and service here were alright - our waitress was friendly and helpful, and the food arrived within 20 minutes and tasted, well, fine. It wasn't the best or the worst Mexican food we've ever had - it was tasty enough, but not memorable. The atmosphere was OK too. It's very much the kind of atmosphere you could expect... More

Friendly Wait Staff. Greeted as soon as we stepped in the door. Manager Checked on us two or three times during dinner. Food was perfectly cooked and prepared quickly and efficiently. Taste was even better than I had imagined. Great Atmosphere, whether eating in the Main Restaurant or in the Bar Area. Also has a patio dining area when weather... More

The beer was cold, the enchiladas were hot. Sat in the bar area and watched a little basketball. Had a great time. Certainly would come back again.

I was disappointed when we went to find that Abuelos is a chain restaurant, way overpriced, and not authentic. I feel like the type of people this restaurant draws are fat, white people who pronounce quesadilla 'kay-so-dill-uh". However, the food is not bad. Nothing tasted bad or had a bad flavor, but I was disappointed that it was a chain... More

So much more authentic than many other Roanoke Mexican restaurants. The food is always hot and full of flavor, not tons of sodium. We choose Abuelos for special occasions like birthdays but please know it's great for any time too. The staff is attentive. The Margaritas compliment your dining experience. You won't be disappointed!

Abuelos is one of my favorite places to eat Mexican in the Roanoke area. It is one of the few restaurants around that remains consistently good after years of visits. Their outdoor patio can't be beat in the summer/fall (especially during happy hour discounts). Have never had a bad meal here. The fajitas are great. The stuffed chicken medallions are... More

We ate here on a Friday night after a long day of driving. We expected a 15-20 minute wait but were seated after only about five. Our server brought us chips with three kinds of salsa: a standard tomato, a smoked chipotle salsa (spicy), and a green tomatillo and pineapple salsa (sweet). All were good, but we both liked the... I have eaten at Abuelo's several times- good food, with more variety than some Mexican restaurants. Ambience is upscale. Good Margaritas. Excellent service. Recommended.

A great place to eat with excellent service, albeit the food is a bit pricey. Portion sizes are average and enough to eat.
