Tantilizing to the taste buds

My mom had been after us to try Abuelo's whenever we were in the Roanoke area and so we did. Love the 3 choices for salsa, however I did not brave the Habanero salsa but loved the pineapple salsa. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was enjoyable--the restaurant is both beautiful and comfortable. My daughter ordered steak fajitas with refried beans and papas con queso; the steak, which was still sizzling halfway through the meal, was tender and very tasty, she said, and I'm assuming the beans and potatoes were, too, since she completely devoured them. I had the... More

We walked into Abelo's at mid-day on a Saturday and had the time of our lives. Fast, efficient, courteous, and authentic! Plenty of Beers on Tap and Happy Hour was by far the best bargain. Our first Visit to this chain left a great impression.

A rather nice lunch with my new son-in-law and baby granddaughter. The portions were large, the food was good but not great. Service was fun with their at-the-table tablets, the waitress was smiling and helpful. It really isn't a place I'll necessarily return to, however. The sauces were okay, the dip was okay, the chips were okay, the food was... More

I usually come after work with a group for happy hour, and this place is great! Inexpensive drinks and appetizers, yet delicious all around. And the service is wonderful. Highly recommend!

I've eaten at Abuelo's three or four times. It is a chain and my only experience is with the one in Roanoke -- and it is always an excellent experience. I enjoy Mexican food and eat a lunch or dinner probably once a week. I'm a fan. At best I've always considered Mexican food to be a good value -... More

My young diners hate to wait for the food. They do not understand the concept of casual dining. The chips that come when you order are very thin and light and were a hit with my impatient diners. The food is good for a chain restaurant and there is a senior menu with less food for us older folks. It... More

We were looking for Friday's but saw Abuelo's and decided to try it. The place is beautiful. We were seated quickly and Angelique came quickly an took our order. The Fajita Combo was more than I could eat and very good. I am told the Durango was also very good. Server was very nice and friendly. You don't find this... More

Ate too many chips as is the curse of a good Mexican meal. They offered several kinds of salsa and had to try them all. Drinks arrived quickly, menu was huge a took a few minutes to decide an order. My group of 6 ordered items from all across the board, they were all hot and fantastic. Only challenge was... More
