The service was good and the ambiance were first class. I felt the portions were a bit small and over priced.

We were excited to try their Lousiana dishes. I dont know how they get away with calling theses items etouffee and such. Horrible. All of it. Over priced for the quality. Ive had better service at fast food restaurants. Never again

Have eaten here several times recently as parts of groups. Food is pretty pricey... there are better values in town. That being said the food is nearly always excellent and very consistent. The deconstructed sushi roll is one of my favorite appetizers in the area. The glace du chocolat is not to be missed for dessert. Entrees are variable. I... More

Alexander's service, ambience, and food are excellent. I so enjoy having dinner there on special occasions ... because everything is so special.

We picked Alexander’s for our Saturday dinner on our getaway weekend in Roanoke, and it was a highlight of the trip. This cozy restaurant offers great food and service at a surprisingly reasonable cost. The menu offered number of fascinating dishes, such as my Deconstructed Cajunese California Roll appetizer (with onigiri, marinated lump crab, avocado, aïoli wasabi, and toasted nori)... More

we had a wonderful dinner here. asked for a quiet table and was delighted with a table in the window that sits all by itself. we shared the appetizer labeled "grilled shrimp for 2". i don't know about "grilled" -- i think the preparation was more like sautéed. by no matter, it was delicious with the shrimp being super tasty.... I love downtown Roanoke and one of the reasons I like it so much are all the fun, good places to eat - and one of the best of them is Alexander's, an absolute pleasure from start to finish. The wait staff is always attentive - but never hovering, you'll never be rushed here. Alexander's feels like the Old South... More

From the greeting at the door, to the attentive service, to the delicious food, I cannot recommend Alexander's highly enough. I do feel it is a bit pricey for Roanoke, but worth the money. Veal and tuna entrees were outstanding.

We were at the Hotel Roanoke for one night and the staff recommended Alexander's. We were able to walk from the hotel and that was an added bonus. The service and food were outstanding and it was truly a wonderful experience. Staff is well trained and very knowledgeable with great recommendations for both food and wine.

We walked from the old Hotel Roanoke to Alexander's using the covered footbridge to the happening downtown restaurant scene. This was an absolutely wonderful surprise. Serious cooking served in a comfortable setting with exceptional service. Our server told us that the chef has been in the Roanoke restaurant scene for over 30 years ( relocated due to a flood in...
