the good. very pleasant atmosphere. old building with tin ceiling and beautiful bar. friendly service. quiet enough for conversation . the not so good : Cajun items. red beans starchy ( wonder if they soaked them for 8 hours ?) and lacking taste. gumbo simply not gumbo. roux questionable as was presence of filet powder ( since lacking ocra) .... My wife and I love to support local businesses, and try to dine downtown as often as possible. I'd love to see The Quarter do well, but think they need to improve the quality of the food they're serving as well as the presentation, considering the prices they've set and the types of restaurants they're competing with for our business.... The Quarter serves Cajun food and I usually like stuff like Jambalaya and Po' Boys. This time I asked for the roasted chicken (half), but I was disappointed that they had fried the chicken. If I want fried chicken, I will go to the KFC. The amber ale from Louisiana was excellent and the service was good, but I definitely... More

Walked over to The Quarter from The Hotel Roanoke, had a wonderful dinner and tasty drinks with great attentive service! Enjoyed the band as well!

Great food and the service was excellent. Be sure to try the rum bread pudding for dessert. A great restaurant.

We returned to this restaurant with great expectations after our initial visit while on a road trip 18 months ago. We were not disappointed! The food was better than we remembered it. We arrived at 2.30pm which is late for lunch but received a warm welcome and were seated immediately on the patio. The wait staff are friendly and responsive.... More

I have a weakness for outdoor dining, which lifted this kind of sweet, offbeat, but fairly mediocre restaurant to a loftier place and might even (maybe!) rate a return visit. The waitress was quite nice and attentive and the pricing is reasonable. That said, the gator bites were pedestrian and the salad I had with blackened chicken didn't make the... More

The restaurant's atmosphere is great and the wait staff are friendly. I've gone to this restaurant for lunch about 5 times over a period of time, each time with the hope it will improve. Every time I am disappointed. I got the pork slider sandwiches and sweet potato fries on my last visit. Well, they didn't tell me until the... More

Took my family here for lunch to celebrate my son's graduation from Roanoke Valley Fire Academy. It was highly touted by several people to me so I decided to give it a try. Our group of 6 was seated immediately and offered drinks. Our orders came in a timely manner and every order was very good. Catfish poboys, meat loaf,... More

We have dined frequently at The Quarter and it is one of our favorites in Roanoke. We recently went while my in-laws were visiting. We were able to get a table easily on a Thursday night (it was raining). The service was good and we all enjoyed dinner. I think the best choices are jambalaya and shrimp and grits. I... More
