On Feb. 13Th, 1930 during the height of the great depression, I.N. "Nick" Bullington opened the 10 stool Texas Tavern and began serving its famous bowls of chile, hamburgers, hotdogs, and cheesy westerns. Nothing fancy but good

All I can go on is the chili dog I got to go late one night. Good for a hot dog but I would recommend due to the atmosphere and it is not a chain restaurant.

This is my favorite restaurant in the world. On our way back up the Blue Ridge Parkway, we made a special stop in Roanoke for lunch just to stock up on Texas Tavern. I ate 4 Denvers. So good.

This is definitely an interesting place. Open 24 hours a day. It's basically a little diner. One of those hole in the wall type of places. They serve breakfast till 10:30 a.m. most of their stuff only cost 2 to $4. It only has enough seating for 10 people. So it's very possible you might have to stand and wait.... More

This is a Roanoke staple and I have been going on and off over my 35-ish years that i've been alive. Some people love it, some hate it. I'm in the love category. I eat my bowl with one packet of oyster crackers and two circles of mustard. Specifically two circles. It is a greasy spoon so don't be thinking... More

I had not been there since 1973 and was thrilled it had not changed at all. I recommend a bowl with and a cheesy western.

The Tavern is a good place to eat it does not have the best food but it is tasty. Half of the greatness about the Tavern is the history and how they almost do it the way when your great grandparents went there to eat. Definitely a place to bring a guest from out of town to experience it is... More

Have been eating here for over 40 years. Seating consists of only 10 stools. Menu is limited but features basic burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and chile.
