Good most of the time

My husband and I have enjoyed this locally owned restaurant for years but it is not family owned anymore. The new owner is nice but the service and food are not the same. We enjoyed this restaurant at it's Tower's Mall location and now visit at the Colonial Avenue location, we just do not visit as... read more

First time there and wish it was closer to my home. 2 1/2 hours away doesn't make for an evening out to dinner but it is worth going to if you're in Roanoke or nearby. Delicious biscuits (seen on the Today Show), awesome country ham, wonderful prices and great servers. If you get a chance - go there. You won't... More

If you are in biscuits mood and looking for a good breakfast, then, don't miss The Roanoker. A very simple place, not fancy at all, but their biscuits are the best. A must for my family when down in beautiful Roanoke.

My wife and I have been having breakfast most Sundays at the Roanoker for over 20 years. Breakfast there is very good with a wide selection of things to choose from. This is a place to have a Southern breakfast. Eggs, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, bacon, ham, country ham, you name it they have it. Service is friendly, courteous, and efficient.... More

DINNER: We went for dinner just as we arrived in town after I had looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor. We were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant has been in business since the 1940's and is a restaurant locals frequent. I ordered the fried chicken special with whipped potatoes and green peas with pearl onions. Oh, it was some of... More

My husband and I ate breakfast there and it was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She had been there over 25 years. We loved the food so good, we went back for dinner that same evening. My husband ate the braised beef and he said it was awesome. I had the fried chicken livers and they were... More

I ordered the chicken chop suey on rice, I think it looked like it came from a can. The only thing I liked was the corn muffins, wouldn't go back for lunch, but their breakfasts are good.

A Roanoke tradition that travels! Crispy bacon, fluffy biscuits, sweet tea - - you can't go wrong with the South in your mouth.

I have been coming to this wonderful restaurant for 17 years .... nearly always for their breakfasts. They offer all kinds of breakfast plates, and on Monday through Fridays and I think on Sundays too they offer something called "The Stimulus Package." Four different entrees (2 eggs counts as ONE entree, as does two biscuits, for example) for a price... More
