My favorite sandwich shop ever!!!

As a kid in elementary school I remember my dad taking trips to Roanoke to visit people in the hospital. Every trip he would return home with a box full of sandwiches from this little jewel. Over twenty years later it's still a must stop for any trip to Roanoke I make. The submarine is my favorite... read more

As always a locally owned gem in the city. The food is always fresh and delicious. This is one place I look forward to visiting while in the Roanoke area.

I had the Italian sub which was just awesome. It's been a long time since I've been to Philly so I've missed the hoagies but their subs made up for it. Quality mean and plenty of it. Very awesome and yes, I will most definitely be returning. the sooner the better.

I have been eating the "Submarine" sandwich at this restaurant for fifty two years and still say it is the best deli sandwich I have ever had. My Dad and I drove to Roanoke (fifty miles away) many times specifically to have this sandwich, and I always make sure I schedule any business in Roanoke on any day but Monday,... More

What can I say. The New Yorker is a Roanoke Classic. The sandwiches are simply outstanding. My favorite is the Submarine with Slaw. It is huge so if you order it you had better bring your appetite. Lunch time is always busy but if they turn table pretty quick so any wait time is short. Service is usually adequate but can... More

Maybe it is not a fare comparison. But a restaurant called New Yorker Deli begs to be compared with real delicatessens in New York. The comparison does not go very far beyond the name. Having said that, I can't think of a better place in Roanoke to get an average tasting pastrami sandwich.

Usually enjoy a sandwich here. Not today. Ordered a "Sailor Sandwich." No knockwurst and sandwich served barely warm. If this is the new norm, then we would be back.

My husband and I spent the day shopping in Roanoke and I asked him if he'd like to try an amazing deli for lunch....my treat. I used to eat at the New Yorker many years ago with my mom and I remembered the good being wonderful. We sat down and gave out drink order to our server, it was then,... More

I have been going to the New Yorker in Roanoke since I was a kid, and now that I live in another town, I make special trips to either dine in or take out. Their "Submarine" is the most delicious mix of meats, onions, and hot peppers. The hot turkey sandwich is awesome as well. There's no skimping on meats... More

My family and I LOVE this place. I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. Last visit was even better (thanks to our wonderful server, DeeDee). I love the kosher klub... All the subs/sandwiches have a good amount of meat on them and are always perfect. I can't rave enough about this place. Great food, great service,... More
