Great food, great service, great value. This restaurant is an icon in Roanoke. Everytime we visit relatives in the Star City is included a trip to the New Yorker. I finally decided to not order their fantastic Submarine and went for the Kosher Klub. What a super sandwich. Heated on rye, pastrami, corned beef, salami, Swiss, piled high, with a... More

My husband and I always split "The Submarine" whenever we're at the New Yorker. It's piled high with all kinds of meats, cheeses and slaw. The price is super cheap and the taste is so much better than Subway. Wait staff is friendly too. This place has been here forever and their prices have barely changed. Just make sure you... More

We love this place. We have actually driven 2 hours just to come eat here. The house specialty is their sub. This is outstanding! They have a full menu and although I want to try something else, I keep getting the sub because it's so good. It had been several years since I had been there, and I was amazed... More

The New Yorker has been a local favorite for decades. Some friends were in town yesterday after being away for quite awhile. We went straight to the New Yorker, where we have shared great memories with them over the years. They were astounded that the prices are still so low, and that the quality is as excellent as they remembered.... More

We kept hearing about how good it was, so we were excited to check it out. We arrived to have lunch, finding the waitstaff looking sloppy, although their bunny ears were cute. we sat and looked at the menu. We started our order, and was disappointed immediately. I wanted to add bacon and pickles, which I was told I couldn't... More

Classic New York deli style subs, meats, etc! All sandwiches are unique and delicious! Cannot find this flavor in any other sub shop in town. A Roanoke tradition on an old school main drag of Williamson Road that will make you want to "cruise" by on your way in and out of town!!

This mom and pop deli fixed a decent sandwich but wasn't quite worth the off the beaten path drive. The club and rueben were good but I was extremely disappointed in the german potato salad. I expected the vinegary tang but ended up with boiled potatoes that were bland. The service was fair. I'm not sure why they took your... More

I'm not a big sub person, but this place has AMAZING sandwiches! Lots of food for the value, great sides too. Try the potato salad!

My first visit to the New Yorker was in 1978 before seeing Dr. Hook and Sha Na Na at the Roanoke Civic Center. I ordered the Sailor sandwich then and I still love it now. The New Yorker's sandwiches are filled and flavorful. Honestly, I've never had a disappointing sandwich at the New Yorker. If you like authentic deli meats... More

One of the best old school delicatessens that I have been visiting since the early '80's. This is an iconic restaurant in Roanoke and they have always served the best in town. My favorites are the New Yorker Special and the Onion Wheel. If you are all about deli meat then the New Yorker is for you....4 meats on your... More
