During an overnight stay along the highway I-81 traveling from up north (NYC) to Fort Lauderdale, we wanted something other than a chain restaurant. This was off the beaten path and well worth the 15 car ride. Nice ambiance, friendly & attentive service, not overbearing. Decent wine list with a few local varieties that paired nicely with the oysters (outstanding... More

We went for brunch and they had a lot to live up to as we had just been to the Blue Apron and Red Rooster in Salem the night before (see my review) and it was beyond perfect in every way. I had made brunch reservations because I expected this place would be very popular and am glad we did... More

This is one of the best meals we have enjoyed while traveling. Truly memorable! Starting with the lovely cocktail with the fresh cucumber, sparkling wine and St. Germain to our starters -- the corn bisque and a most delightful heirloom tomato salad with lemon-lime basil -- and on to the entrees. I had the Bramble Hollow chicken confit duo,

The name says it all! Local food sources, prepared fresh by people that truly care. We enjoyed our meals! I started with an Autumn salad, loved the various vegis. My husband had a winner in the squash soup. The layers of flavors, richness, so delish! Our mains were for,him the scallops, fresh, tender and flavorful. My squash pasta, tender strands... More

I was in traveling in Roanoke for a visit and wanted a healthy place to eat. My host called her husband and he suggested Local Roots. Perfect. Lovely menu and I could have ordered anything on it. I ordered the Soup of the Day--a yummy corn chowder and a salad with a light house made dressing. I ordered a side... More

I've eaten at Local Roots off and on since we moved to Roanoke from San Diego where there is obviously a much broader array of restaurants to choose from. I'd match Local Roots against the best I've eaten at in San Diego... the food is flavorful, unusual, and beautifully prepared. I had their chef's tasting menu with wine one evening... More

I dined last week with my daughter and wife. Everything was excellent! The owner was there and came by and introduced herself, a nice touch. They were featuring a prix fixe 3 course menu celebrating traditional American Indian lore, but at $39/pp we passed, but still spent almost as much going ala carte. Pricey and small portions, but well prepared... More

I went there for Brunch on Sunday. I ordered 4 Over easy eggs, toast, potato's and Bacon. I ordered over easy eggs and got over hard, they wanted to replace them but I didn't want them to but I didn't let them...They really wanted to though, so no fault of there's. The food quality was excellent, and tasted very good.... More

Recently ate at this restaurant and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I think the food is a little over priced. Good quality and the staff are friendly and at tentative. The portions are a little small for the price, however the food was tasty and presentation was great.

Had dinner at Local Roots and it was just okay. It's kinda one of those "Been there, done that" things. I am not sure I would go back. The service was excellent. The bread appetizer was the best thing I ate. I chose the Scallop meal which was good but I guess I had higher expectations. My friend had the... More
