The selection of Beer is off the charts and the food is hearty and delicious. The name is spelled wrong on Trip Advisor, it should be Bier Garden. The restaurant is family owned and operated.

It's hard to find a good German restaurant, but in Portsmouth, you're in luck! I had one of the best pork chops with saurkraut I've ever had outside of Germany. And the beer choices were incredible - page after page after page of selections. We ate in the enclosed porch area which added to the European charm. The waitress was... More

The Bier Garden in Olde Towne Portsmouth is a gem. We've been there twice in the last two weeks and had tasty German food with great service. Rouladen, Pork Roast and the Bolagne sandwich were all delicious and so was the variety of beers we tried. Don't' forget the cheesecake, apple strudel and key lime/raspberry mini cheesecake. Mmmmm!

Not a beer person, but love German food. The sauces and potatos were authentic. Love the desserts too! The atmosphere is very nice on a fall or spring day....

Great selection of beer and really good German Food. I started with the meat/cheese plate and it was big enough that I decided I wouldn't have room for anything else.

You absolutely MUST try a different beer each time you visit! A great place to pop in whenever you are near. Just ask a server for suggestions - the last one I experienced was very dark, frothy and had a hint of chocolate! Exactly the refreshment I needed on a hot sunny afternoon!

Foods is okay-i love my German food - but the atmosphere and beer selection is where it's at. Sit at the bar if you want to meet truly knowledgeable beirmeisters.

This is your classic German restaurant. Service is a little slow, but I think they were just honestly busy. The portions are huge and the beer menu is even bigger

To start off with, my wife and I visit Bier Garden every couple of months -- after a movie at the Commodore, or riding bikes around P-Town, or just because we want to sit on the patio and enjoy a nice evening breeze while trying a different, non-American beer. We will continue to do so. That said, we've avoided eating... More
