Very comfortable, attractive, combination of old world decor in restored new world building. Small but varied wine list with good choice of wine by the glass. Classic seafood dishes with lovely sauces and, odd for the south, not based on frying everything. Nice paintings.

Full disclosure - over the past two months, I've eaten at Cafe Europa four times (3 dinners; 1 lunch). As a result, I've had the opportunity to try a good part of the menu (either from what I ordered, or doing a "tasty taste" with my wife and table-mates). I have yet to find something that I wouldn't order (although... More

We walked in to this restaurant and were greeted with "Do you need something?" Not from you we don't. There are too many restaurants in this area to put up with bad service and unprofessional attitudes.

From the warm greeting by the staff, to the beautiful description of the food selections, specials and desserts, you immediately feel appreciated and pampered. The presentation of the drinks and utterly exquisite aroma and portions of the entrees are to die for. The atmosphere inside and on the outside patio cafe is so relaxing and warm that if you're having... More

We have been going to Cafe Europa, @ 319 High St, Portsmouth, VA for years. We dine out at numerous places in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth area and Cafe Europe is, hands down, the most elegant fine dining restaurant in the area! Location: downtown Portsmouth directly across from Roger Browns Sports Bar and 1 block away from... More

We spent two days in Portsmouth while visiting family in the Norfolk area. Our B&B hostess recommended this restaurant for a fine meal. It was fabulous! Decorated for Christmas and festive balloons for New Year's Eve. The chef had many specials on the menu for the occasion. Our meal was outstanding!

Cafe Europa has consistently been a favorite of ours for over a decade..Veronique and her husband, the chef, are from Marsaille..so this is authentic Dining in France!! Her bright smile and cordial hospitality just radiates! The decor, spaces and more importantly the food and its presentation will win your attention for a favorite repeat designation. We had duck and dover... More

On a recent Saturday night a group of ten of us gathered at Café Europa and what a grand time we had. The service was excellent, our waiter John Paul was very friendly, efficient and added to our overall experience. The meals all arrived at the same time and most importantly were hot. The presentations were very nice and everyone... More
