Best restaurant in Hampton Roads

Cafe Europa is consistently the best restaurant in the Portsmouth and Norfolk area. Classically-trained Owner and Chef Mike Simko masterfully executes every meal he designs and creates in the kitchen at Cafe Europa. Cafe Europa is consistently the best restaurant in the Portsmouth and Norfolk area. Classically-trained Owner and Chef Mike Simko masterfully executes every meal he designs and creates in the kitchen at Cafe Europa. Congenial staff. Chef accommodating to requests for dishes not on the menu for the night. Ambience. The complete package for a night on the town with your favorite guy or gal. Not for kids.

I have lived in Va Bch for 11 years and was not aware of this wonderful gem in Portsmouth. Only because we are staying in Oldetowne did we discover it. It has a wonderful Eurpean feel. Dinner is an event. They don't rush you just to turn over the table. You won't still be working on your appetizer when your... More

We actually had a reservation at another restaurant where the bartender did not even know what Rosé wine was so we decided to go to Cafe Europa which was around the corner. All the staff was very nice and very professional, the ambiance felt a little upscale eve though it is somewhat casual. Te food was amazing specially our desserts.... More

Started evening off meeting for drinks and stayed for dinner. The food was very good and we had great service. It is nice to find a restaurant that does not fry every seafood dish! Your palate will definitely enjoy any choice. At first it appears a bit stuffy with the white table cloths and setting but this is a casual... More

My husband and I happened to be in Portsmouth and decided to go to lunch. We chose Cafe Europa because over the years we have heard good things about the restaurant, but had never been there. We were late for lunch, but were warmly greeted and seated in a lovely room. Cafe Europa is an elegant white tablecloth kind of... More

Very comfortable, attractive, combination of old world decor in restored new world building. Small but varied wine list with good choice of wine by the glass. Classic seafood dishes with lovely sauces and, odd for the south, not based on frying everything. Nice paintings.

Full disclosure - over the past two months, I've eaten at Cafe Europa four times (3 dinners; 1 lunch). As a result, I've had the opportunity to try a good part of the menu (either from what I ordered, or doing a "tasty taste" with my wife and table-mates). I have yet to find something that I wouldn't order (although... More

We walked in to this restaurant and were greeted with "Do you need something?" Not from you we don't. There are too many restaurants in this area to put up with bad service and unprofessional attitudes.

From the warm greeting by the staff, to the beautiful description of the food selections, specials and desserts, you immediately feel appreciated and pampered. The presentation of the drinks and utterly exquisite aroma and portions of the entrees are to die for. The atmosphere inside and on the outside patio cafe is so relaxing and warm that if you're having... More
