Pleasantly surprised!

During a recent weekend visit to Portsmouth , we walked by Lobscouser after just finishing lunch at another local restaurant. We decided to stop and look at the menu because we were planning on going out to dinner that night. The menu had some good choices at very reasonable prices. We cam... read more

I can't find an entree that I like here. The sides are amazing though. The tomato salad, hushpuppies, and greens are great. The service is fantastic. I want to like it, but the entrees are mediocre. The early bird specials are really inexpensive.

Had a wonderful dinner on Monday night. The most succulent sauteed crab meat I had had in a long, long time. The prime rib was cooked just right. This is a restaurant I had not been to in years, and I was both surprised and delighted, so much so that I took my grandson there Wednesday night for dinner. BIG... More

The service was excellent. We did not have to wait, walked in and immediately seated. For the appetizer we had peppered Shrimp-Jumbo sauteed in a spicy pepper butter sauce...$5.75, very tasty. I had Lemon Flounder-A filet topped with our lemon cream sauce...$14.99, superbly FRESH! My son had rime Rib topped with sauteed blue crab...$18.99, cooked to perfection. The hush-puppies were... This is a small quaint restaurant that my wife and I enjoy going to often. The food is great and the service is outstanding. Since we live in Portsmouth this is a favorite for us.

I was a little hesitant of our choice when I first walked in as a seafood restaurant like this in Lynchburg would have been slam packed. However, as soon as we got our appetizer, fried calamari, all my fears went away. My wife got the Lobster Gabriel which had perfectly cooked pasta and tasty shrimp and lobster. I got the... More

First of all Skip the waiter was wonderful. He was very personable and was extremely bubbly. Second, the hush puppies holy smokes is all I can say about them. Third, the seafood pasta and the lobster pasta dish was to DIE for. The prices were amazing, the experience amazing, the service was, yep you guessed it AMAZING! A must go... More

I had lunch here, appetizer was the blackened scallops that I'm still craving now. I enjoyed my flounder as well and service was top notch. Wish I had found this earlier in my trip because I would have been back for those scallops!

I am a seafood lover. And since the Lobscouser had the most extensive seafood on the menu, I gave it a try. The seafood is wonderful. Melts in your mouth. I had the seafood platter broiled. Shrimp, scallops and fish were baked to perfection. The salad was good. The wine is reasonable I only wish they had a better house... More

Made reservations for a group of 16. Staff was very accomodating to us coming late after event at Willette Hall and have only 12 people. Great seafood, quaint atmosphere. I will be back!
