Always wonderful, but just a bit off this time

We love Sydney's cuisine and have followed him all over Hampton Roads. We went for Christmas Eve dinner as our really "special" dining out event, but were slightly disappointed. We love Sydney's cuisine and have followed him all over Hampton Roads. We went for Christmas Eve dinner as our really "special" dining out event, but were slightly disappointed. We had Rockfish and the pork smorgasboard and while it was well-prepared and tasty, it just didn't seem to measure up to his lofty standards. There was no "wow" moment and... More

Chef Sydney Meers has successfully created a combination of fine dining with an eccentric art decor. His dishes are pleasing to the eye and even better to your pallet. The assorted cheese plate was a hit with our group. Make sure you check out the off menu specials being offered. Do not pass up his dessert offerings!

Small, out-of-the-way place that delights the pallet with each visit. Sidney Mears is a known entity in the local area and brings forth the best foodies experience possible in the Tidewater area of Virginia. His flare for Virginia foods combined with a Gulf coast addition is amazing. The atmosphere is eclectic just like the chef and his food. There are... More

We had just finished playing golf, and decided to check out this little "hole in the wall" restaurant. Wow.. was a very nice surprise. The service was great and helpful. We each ordered one of the specials of the night and shared with the other. I would have to do the same again, because both were awesome! We will be... More

Had a FANTASTIC southern meal here. The restaurant is very eccentric with it's decor, but has a very homey feel about it. The food was absolutely fantastic. Very creative with the flavor combinations and imaginative use of the ingredients. Everything tastes fresh and well seasoned. The dinning area is small, so I definitely recommend getting a reservation before heading here.

It was my first visit to this restaurant. I had heard so much about it and it did not disappoint. The food was good but the service was great. Sat at the bar and ordered wine and the evening specials. We will definitely return.

My family lived in Port Norfolk over a hundred years ago, a few blocks from the current location of "Stove"....I bought my first house, on Mt. Vernon Avenue, in 1984, a few blocks in the other direction. I wish Stove had been there when I lived in the 'hood! That was an amazing dining experience, especially for P-Town! The building... Chef Meers is a food prep genius ! We have been to this restaurant many times and have always been amazed by the dishes served. Staff is excellent and parking is close by. One of our favorite places. Long live "The Stove" !

Excellent little restaurant. Reminds me of the ones out in LA. Great food and service. Will definitely be back to this restaurant in the near future.

My brother-in-law and his girl were in town visiting. We wanted to give them a unique dining experience. My son, who hasn't been to Stove, also came along. We looked forward to sitting at the bar, which is our favorite place to dine. We had made a reservation and had requested to sit at the bar. Unfortunately, when we arrived,... More
