Inimitable Chef Sydney Meers, " The Stove Person"

Every local foodie is familiar with Chef Sydney Meers. He's been reviewed repeatedly and even featured in Southern Living. What I have to say about Syd's cooking is that he is an absolute wizard when it comes to spice blends. Try his Shrimp and Grits, or his Mushroom Melange. For a walk in the... read more

Stove is the delicious choice for a fine meal. Chef-owner Sidney Meers was working his culinary magic while we enjoyed cocktails at the bar artfully decorated in Sid's unique style. Moving to the dining room we enjoyed the pimento cheese appetizer while Sid was casting spells that resulted in a perfectly grilled steak for one and a rockfish entree for... More

Stove is one of our favorite restaurants in the entire Hampton Roads area. We have eaten there many times, and always enjoy our food immensely. In fact, we have never been to another restaurant quite like Stove. It seats no more than about 30 guests. The decorations are wonderfully off-beat, and the food is always delicious. If you are looking... More

Wonderful food and a very eclectic space. The only drawback is the service. Over 15 minutes from when we were seated until the waitress came to give us water. Another 10 minutes before she asked to take our drink orders. It went downhill from there. I'd return for the food but would request a different server.

Good country food with a unique flair. This is a small intimate restaurant that has eclectic atmosphere all decorated with paintings by the chef, vintage circus and clown memorabilia and authentic stuffed animal heads. The meal started with the best fresh homemade bread and butter. Great flavors in the bread. We were a table of six so plenty to go... More

Tasty, tasty, tasty. What a fun Friday night experience! Great artwork on the walls, nicely but casually decorated. A choice between bubbly and tap water meant we bought a bottle but that was ok because there weren't a lot of non alcoholic drink choices- some hibiscus tea and fruit juices. Their signature appetizer is a cheese plate, priced by the... More

Well I was not sure how to rate this restaurant. It is in a rather strange location. When we got there we saw a man passed out in the bushes and 2 people laughing and taking his picture. On a side street in a strange area. We went inside and before I could put my purse down the waitress asked... More

the Stove has a high end menu, the portions are adequate, very little parking and its on the street. I thought the prices were a little high.

One of our favorite restaurants. A bit eclectic? Yes! That is most of the fun! Menu is limited, but some of the best food I have had in a restaurant. Cooking classes are a blast too! We have never had staff issues as some have mentioned, and not sure what other folks have encountered, but Kim and her counterparts have... More

Very surprising but nice place, the chief is very inventive and all cooking is very very sweet but spicy. Thank you for all we tasted in this restaurant during our three visits
