we stumble across the Swinging Bridge while on a mission to see the famed Udderly Chick which we discovered on roadtrippers.com. This adventure took us on a 2 hour detour which happen to be the second best part of our trip. What a gorgeous restaurant and the staff was so accommodating and super friendly. The food was not what I... More

We visited this diamond in the ruff after a co-worker told me how fantastic it was. Since our first, we have returned 2 more times. The last trip I convinced my mom to come along. My mother is a HUGE food snob but i felt sure she would love the restuarant as much as my children and I do. My... More

We were visiting some family in the area and dined at the restaurant. First, it is part of a much larger cabin-style complex that appeared very well maintained and up kept. Nice first impression. You enter through a 'old style general store', but selling most modern amenities, a beer, snacks, souvenirs, etc... a very nice feel entering. The restaurant itself... More

I have eaten at the Swinging Bridge Restaurant twice and each time I found everything about it top notch. This time the staff accommodated us (a large group of 27) with about 2 hours of advance notice. They arranged for us to eat on their screened porch which we had to ourselves. Good down home food that put Cracker Barrel... More

We went for the 4th of July after hearing good things from friends. Upon being seated, there were some old rusted cars in the window sill that our 2 year old reached for and the waitress yanked from his hands. We ordered a buffalo steak and rib eye and were very disappointed. I don't even think they were salt and... More

This was some of the best food we've ever had. The food is all local and delicious. The buffalo is incredible and comes from the farm down the road.

We arrived via motorcycle and it was a wonderful area to ride in. Had lunch at the Swinging Bridge/General Store. They promote buffalo meat and there is a beautiful buffalo farm down the road. The grounds of the rest/store are well maintained and have a mill as well as a small trout pond filled with huge trout. Rooms are available... More

This place is pretty neat. The bridge is inside the restaurant, and there's a general store attached with all the requisite tourist goodies for sale. The food was decent, but not absolutely great, and the portions weren't very big. I had the buffalo sandwich, which was $15, but not worth that. It was a nice drive from Roanoke, though.

After a very cold week in Roanoke, we planned a road trip for lunch in the small "village" of Paint Bank. The day turned into a Winter Wonderland on the way into the mountains which made for nice photo ops!! The restaurant was not crowded today as the waitress explained that the weather was keeping people at home. But we... More
