Why, oh why, do people invite me here? And why, oh why, do I agree to go? Am I the only one who has noticed that the food is barely average, and when it's busy, the service is mighty slow too? I guess I need to be more assertive and just say no!

We enjoyed a good meal in pleasant surroundings with a nice atmosphere. Despite it being a Tuesday evening the restaurant was packed - which has to say something about the restaurant from the outset. Other reviewers have mentioned the various rooms at the restaurant - there were three of us and we were seated away from the larger family groups... More

Our Kerikeri hosts recommended this restaurant especially on a Sunday night, and we were very happy with the choice. A quiet Sunday night allowed us to enjoy just-right crispy calamari (not overdone, thank goodness), finger licking pork ribs, and a very fresh seafood lemon and herb spaghetti. However the highlight of the meal had to be the banana split with... More

We just needed a table for two. The salads were very nice as was the rolled chicken. Service was great as well. Pleasant and... More

We stopped in here on a Sunday night after a big day fishing - we were all exhausted, starving and were well aware that it was 8pm on a Sunday in Kerikeri so our options for food might be limited but the Black Olive happily invited us in even though the kitchen was about to close - we were VERY... We've found Kerikeri not to be the greatest in selection for restaurants. But there are a couple of stand outs. The Black Olive being one of them. You know its good when on a Friday night in winter when most other restaurants are empty or closed, the Black Olive is jammed packed with locals. We ordered pork belly ( which... More
