Dinner for two

What a delight! Ake Ake has managed something few restaurants have in my experience - and that is provide me with a three-course dinner where I have been blown away with each course. It was simply divine! There is nothing else to say.

It feels like it is in the middle of no where. So peaceful and quiet. Great service and excellent menu. I cannot fault anything i had and i am hard to please. Lovely glass of wine. Lamb loin was absolutely lovely ad was the chocolate pot. Will definitely return here when next in the area. Highly recommend.

We stopped here on a day tour with Harley from Black Robin Tours (Select NZ). We ordered and had a short wine tasting before lunch came. The food and wine was spectacular for a place so far off the beaten track. I had the swordfish special in a tomato sauce and it was cooked perfect and tasted great. My wife... More

Always a happening place summer or winter, on the menu right now...Milk Braised Pork Belly. Crispy Black Pudding, Parsnip Puree & Roasted Rhubarb, plus blackboard special, local fresh produce, friendly staff, interesting menu, and lovely yummy wines... quiet setting away from the crowds.

Mum & Dad took us for lunch and what a lunch. The service was great very friendly and was a big part of the overall experience. I had a steak that was one of the nicest I've had .

Just driving along and saw a sign "winery and restaurant" feeling peckish thought we would give it a go. So far we haven't really enjoyed a meal during out time in the North, mostly too heavy and not delicate. My wife and I were in for a surprise, the venison just melted, full of flavour and rare in the middle,... More

This place continues to impress....great location....excellent service....amazing food which is fresh...well presented and numerous in choice. And of course the wine is sumptuous, with plenty of varieties to choose from. The staff go above and beyond with service, offering just the right amount of help and information without over servicing. I have been here several times now, and Ake Ake... More

Delicious once again! Came back because the first time was so good and we weren't disappointed! Garlic bread is divine! Duck and chicken dishes were perfect. Panacotta dessert was definitely a must.

A consistent approach to fresh food, excellent estate produced wine, friendly service (albeit they seemed to forget about us after the mains) but hey just a minor glitch. Anyway to the food, the Minister of War chose Mooroccan lamb loin, set on a bed of quinoa and couscous salad, topped with a minted yoghurt dressing. The lamb had been escaloped... More

We stopped by this winery because we heard the menu was great. When we arrived the staff seemed like they were going thru the motions on the wine tasting. There was no one in the restaurant so we decided to skip it. The atmosphere wasn't overly friendly but perhaps they were understaffed that day... not sure.. Not sure if I... More

I am really surprised to read this review when it appears that you don't actually have anything to "review". If there was no one in the restaurant then I can only imagine that we were having a break between lunch and dinner service. Even humble restaurateurs deserve a break during a 14 hour day. The wine tastings are not a... More
