Wet afternoon retreat

A wet day and we went in for a bite and some shelter. A warm welcome, a delicious shared meal, and something to quench our thirst, and we were ready to look around the Stone House and then the drive back to Paihia

The food was very good as was the service provided by the Swedish waitress from Ystad. The best thing is the view of Kerikeri Inlet and the Old Stone Store.

After finishing our walk near Stone House got hungry It was 3 pm. and chef wasn't there . We decided to have cold beer chips and pickles. To my surprise pickles were steaming hot. Perhaps waitres should be told that not everything should be microwaved.

Just stopped here for coffee and cake a couple of times. Great stopping spot to rest the feet, and have a lovely bite to eat. Will be going again for lunch and/or dinner.

With Wharepuke closed on Sundays and Honey House Cafe not even willing to make a sandwich at 1pm, we went to Pear Tree for light lunch. Chose Caesar Salad, Salad with Blue Cheese and BLT sandwich. Far too expensive for these light meals - $18 for sandwich is outrageous, even though it was delicious. Caesar salad underwhelming, Blue Cheese salad... More

Although a lovely location I think they are forgetting the food and service is important too. Birthday lunch, ordered my favourite clam chowder only to be given luke warm potato broth with 5 mussels without their beards taken out. Not a clam in sight but I did get 3 thin strips of stale bread without butter. And it cost me... More

Location very nice, place very comfortable. Waiter service good. BUT, when finishing our dinner and asking for a dessert, they told us that "unfortunately" the cook had left. Bingo....

We were recommended to eat here by our hosts at the B&B, and what a wonderful restaurant. Delicious food, friendly staff and a stunning setting right by the water. My father had the blackened chicken which he said was the best chicken he had ever had. He's 89 so has eaten a lot of chicken in his life! We liked... More

We chose to eat at the Pear Tree as the menu seemed to have a lot of choices and had some interesting options. We managed to get a table without a booking and got a table with a fantastic view of the water. I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the cooking. I had ordered a medium steak,... More

Great food, well prepared and presented. We had a sharer plate and wonderful date and prune sticky toffee pudding in the early afternoon...all wonderful. We ate outsie under the trees with lovely views. We went back for dinner on the verandah, and loved the lamb and the cannelloni. Well done!
