Good meals

After a fairly poor meal at the other local eating establishment it was with some trepidation that we decided to try the local pub for the next nights repast. At least we knew that we could have the drink of our choice with our meals so we were ahead of the game in that respect already. After... read more

During the low season (May) is the only restaurant in Penneshaw, so is the only choice for dinner. In spite of this we had two simple but nice meals when we eat local oysters, fish and chips and finally a sirloin; this latter was not memorable.

Visited the hotel when on the first Sunday of the month Penneshaw Market Day. The dinning room always fills fast so went into the Front Bar for a bar meal from the bar menu only to be refused as the kitchen was busy, The same happened to a family of 7? So from now on we eat at other places.... More

Decent pub with some pretty awesome views out the side windows and some great local art hanging in the dining area. The food was good as well, the chicken parmigiana was a thick slab of chicken with your usual parmi sauce and cheese. Awesome value for money that one. The pulled pork burger was great too, really good sauce and... More

This is a lovely looking old fashioned pub with great views. The food though is well average. We found the bar staff to be a bit scared of the chef and when we asked for a cheese burger whilst sitting down. The bar man said he was to worried to ask the chef for us. He did however pluck up... More

When tourists are captive and competition is slim, restaurants like this can get away with mediocre food in a non-descript self-serve dining room and still turn a profit. Our order was acknowledged with a grumble and the pasta I selected was out. We also passed on the green salads made with mayonnaise. The Prawn Hot Pot was hot and that... More

Had an evening meal here. The staff were friendly and polite, they met our needs willingly, with no fuss. The chef personally helped us with a difficult dietary need. The food was tasty and well prepared ( even without the cauliflower puree haha )

Sadly, for the third time in a row we have been sorely disappointed. The hotel has a great location and is beautifully renovated, but the quality of food has slipped to well below standard. The seafood platter offers very little and lacks creativity, side salads are minuscule, but the worst offender had to be the fish and chips, which was... More

Stopped for lunch on a rainy monday, so had to eat inside. Sat by the window looking at mainland Australia! Would have been lovely to sit on the terrace on a sunny afternoon. Had standard pub fare that was good quality & plenty of it. Also, food arrived in under 10mins, but it wasn't busy. In all, good value
