Glass walls at the front of the outdoor area and large windows opening to the sea air capture the light and view for all diners in all weather with new modern alfresco furniture. The Penneshaw Hotel – also known as the “Penny”- has both inside and alfresco dining areas giving the hotel a relaxed casual feel. However, there's nothing casual about the excellent presentation and consistency of the food. With a superb wine list, some of the best pub food SA has to offer and competitive function options the Penny is a perfect crowd pleaser.

good pub meal

Good service. There was a good selection of meals and the servings generous. The steak was cooked well and the fish perfect. On the downside, t he night was quite cold and we felt the fire could have been lit or the heatiing turned up to make the experience more comfortable. We would come again.

Two Sundays in a row just recently, friends and I had lunch at the Penneshaw Pub to celebrate birthdays. Along with Annabel, Barb, Belinda, Steve, Jim, Keith, Libby and Linda I enjoyed beautiful food and great service. Particular thanks to Andy for his attentive service to a group of 'unruly senior cits' - Belinda and Steve excluded - although they... More

I had dinner at the Penneshaw Hotel tonight before catching the ferry home and the mixed catch and scotch fillet were cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious! Service was fantastic, the bar staff were amazing and really looked after us. Will definitely be back.

After spending 3 days on the island our group was really looking forward to a pub meal before getting the ferry back to the mainland, we thought this place would be perfect especially being the only pub in town. So we were all really shocked on walking into the place at 5.30 to be refused service by the bartender. There... More

After a fairly poor meal at the other local eating establishment it was with some trepidation that we decided to try the local pub for the next nights repast. At least we knew that we could have the drink of our choice with our meals so we were ahead of the game in that respect already. After seeing what looked... More

During the low season (May) is the only restaurant in Penneshaw, so is the only choice for dinner. In spite of this we had two simple but nice meals when we eat local oysters, fish and chips and finally a sirloin; this latter was not memorable.

Visited the hotel when on the first Sunday of the month Penneshaw Market Day. The dinning room always fills fast so went into the Front Bar for a bar meal from the bar menu only to be refused as the kitchen was busy, The same happened to a family of 7? So from now on we eat at other places.... More

Decent pub with some pretty awesome views out the side windows and some great local art hanging in the dining area. The food was good as well, the chicken parmigiana was a thick slab of chicken with your usual parmi sauce and cheese. Awesome value for money that one. The pulled pork burger was great too, really good sauce and... More

This is a lovely looking old fashioned pub with great views. The food though is well average. We found the bar staff to be a bit scared of the chef and when we asked for a cheese burger whilst sitting down. The bar man said he was to worried to ask the chef for us. He did however pluck up... More
