Lovely local produce

Had lunch here last Saturday with a number of work colleagues. Lovely menu of local produce. Langostines, lamb, crab...everything was tasty. Service with a smile and a proud local Kangaroo Island community. Local wines as well. Well worth a stop if you are on the island!

I arrived on KI on 16th March, after a long drive etc. My wife and I walked up to the pub for dinner, and found ourselves a table outside, looking over the water. We decided on our meals and I went inside to order. The staff took our order, but really seemed to be "over it". Perhaps they had a... More

A nice location with sea views a good menu and reasonably priced but the food was cold, the manager blamed it on the hotel being under staffed and that the owners did not care, if we had not had to pay at the time of ordering I guess we could of worked out a deal but once they have your... More

We arrived at Penneshaw amongst a P&O liner unloading as well so went to Kingscote to escape the crowds. As we were staying at a rented house in Penneshaw we returned for an eving meal only to que for ages at the counter to place an order, the pub had run out of most things and the lone bar attendant... The food here is typical pub food with a fine dining price tag. The first day I had the Whiting which was nice and my wwife had chicken schnitzel which she said was ordinary. Next day I had the steak which was cooked medium rare but served almost cold, my wife had the linguini which she enjoyed. Drinks are totally... More

Visited this pub/hotel after recommendations from locals. Ordered chicken schnitzel with chips & salad and Grilled whiting with chips and salad with 2 glasses of bay of shoals riesling. The portion size of grilled whiting was literally tiny with 1 small fillet with overloaded chips and tiny salad for $24!!! My partner ate the small fillet and left hungry skipping... More

Fancied a pub meal and a pint during my first night in Kangaroo Island. This was the first place we found. Landlord a charming fellow. Restaurant relatively modern and some good food being served. I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel with peppercorn sauce. The views on the balcony are simply breathtaking. Gaurentee you won't find a better view in any... More

We liked this Hotel so went for 2 of the 3 nights. Would have been 3 for 3 but we only found it the second one. OK selection but very tasty and decent sizes for a reasonable price

We have visited this hotel on a few occasions and on each visit, we have not been disappointed. Meals have been well cooked and there is a good variety....not just your normal Aussie pub fare (eg schnitzel). Servings are a good size...there could be a better selection of wines....not just chardonnay or sauvignon blanc in the whites.
