Don't judge restaurant by its menu

Food and service was great! Get the ribs. Although it's a typical menu, nothing earth shattering the food is all made in house and very good. We were pleasantly surprised!

If you want good food, stop here. The food was expertly prepared, you can tell the chef put there heart into their cooking. The best ingredients, cooked to perfection. I had the bbq chicken breast, highly recommend. The wife had shrimp and said was best she ever had. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Virginia , this... More

I only had a chicken ceasar salad, which was awesome. It took a while for them to seat us and they were not busy. The interior is just so rich with visible history. It was a silk mill, and you can see the marks in the floor from the machinery, the big sliding barn doors, the whole place just feels... More

Really would like to give a 4.5 review. Food was very good, price reasonable for what we ordered, menu had a good variety. Service was good but we did have to wait once we got to our table:they may have been understaffed as there were many unbussed tables when we got there. The mill itself is an old silk mill... More

We went to the Silk Mill our first night in Orange. We had to wait a bit for a table because they were short staffed. Once we were seated our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was great and the signature drink, the grill slammer, was delicious! If we are in the area again we will definitely stop... More

The restaurant was charming. The service was good. Food was average. My son's sirloin was a little tough. The alfredo was tasty. BBQ smothered chicken was goo. Unfortunately, the rice that accompanied two of the dishes was cold.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. When I began to enter I was expecting a more pub-like feel that was casual, but I would call the atmosphere to be more like a historic tavern. Spacious with charming decor. It was relaxed, but also had a feeling of more being a little more upscale. The food was good and there... More

Ate here after our motel desk clerk recommended it as one of the go-to places in Orange. It does have an interesting story -- it was perhaps the major U.S. manufacturer of silk for parachutes during WW II. But you are eating in a factory space -- large rooms with concrete floors and high (sheet metal?) ceilings. The lighting is... More

I like eating in historic buildings that have been converted into eateries. Food was excellent with nice variety of choices. Excellent desserts. See their website for history of the silk mill.

while eating here recently with my family, as we often do, i was surprised to see how much the attitude of the staff here has changed. The food was delicious as always, however a little dried out, but it seemed the entire staff had nothing better to do than mope around and stare at the floor. our server, a male... More
