Recently watched a couple of the US World Cup games here with so,ex friends and had a really great time. The restaurant is pretty big inside, they have 4 community tables right across from the bar which makes it a great place for groups. The appetizers were excellent, they certainly had a lot of different beer to chose from, and... More

I stopped here solely on the basis that it is supposed to be ranked #1 on Balboa Island. The charm is all on the exterior. Inside it looks like someone put a bunch of tables in a big room. The food was average at best. My favorite thing about the Village Inn was the band.

We, family of 5, stopped in here for breakfast before paddle boarding. We were all pleasantly surprised as it initially seemed like a place to go to in the evening for drinks, music, watch sports. Service was great and the restaurant has lots of windows so it feels very open. My kids had french toast, waffles, sausage and bacon. I... More

ok...let' not get crazy here. The V.I. has been around for a long time...what is new is the current owners. They have done a great job of improving the interior and introducing a new menu. For the most part they have done a good job. The menu gets pricey on a few items but reasonable on most. They do not, hoywever,... More

The service was very good. The bartender made a fabulous Bloody Mary, just the way I like them. Staff was very courteous and attentive. Did not have time for food this time, but on my next visit, I will definitely have as it looks delicious. Interior is rustic beach and very large to accommodate big groups. Great location and so... We lived close by for over 2 years, and this was our "go to" bar. At the time, Cindy was in charge, and the service was always excellent, patrons friendly, and always sport to watch at the bar. We also had some good nights there with some easy going live music. We ate regularly, and it was never gourmet food,... More

We were visiting Balboa Island, which is worth the stop, and decided on Village Inn for dinner. We had dinner at the bar. The food was okay but not great. My short ribs were a dry. Her penne pasta was no better then what we can make at home. The service was okay from the bar tender. She was alone... More

We quickly discovered the Village Inn is the local's hangout and actually the only sizable bar on the Island. We went there on several occasions while visiting and stopped in to see if we could get a table for five on Christmas Eve. They said they were pretty full on reservations, but would try to get us in. We waited... More

Nice and spacious. Good service. The clam chowder was a total surprise. Thick, with lots of clams bits. Really, some of the best I've ever had.
