New York Italian

Small Italian restaurant with pictures of the Rat Pack and different Italian themed movies on the wall. Food was very good. We had the linguine with clam sauce both red and white. Another person had the lobster ravioli. All was very good. Prices and service was good. The only draw back was no beer... read more

I had the chicken piccata which came with lots of fresh veggies and pasta. The description on the menu does not detail it so make sure you inquire. The dish had red sauce on penne which I can't eat and would not think would accompany the piccata sauce. I had to remove it as the aides were blending together. Flavor... More

A casual place for some very tasty Italian food! If you're traveling alone, this is a nice place to sit at the bar for a glass of wine and pizza.

Consistent quality and service. My wife and l have enjoyed eating here for for almost 10 years. Never disappointed. Sometimes Balboa Island is jammed with tourists so you might have to wait for a table. But if you are in a hurry you shouldn't come to Balboa Island. This is where we relax and unwind even if its crowded. I... More

Good is decent, portions generous, service attentive and one of the best places to eat on the island. Great bread with a yummy olive spread is served. Take out is great!

Very delightful Italian eatery with a nice variety of delicious appetizers and entrees. Marinara was delicious on my cheese ravioli with veal meatball. Good service and hot tasty food. Desserts are delicious too - kind of hard to save room for dessert though. Good sized servings for rather moderate prices. Great for lunch or dinner. Reservations suggested for dinner during... This is a small restaurant with lots of charm in a great location. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu is typical Italian including gnocchi. Not all Italian restaurants serve gnocchi. Gnocchi is the potato-based, bite-sized pasta that takes a fair amount of time to create. Everything at Ciao is home-made.

With lots of quaint little restaurants to choose from on the main street of Balboa Island, we were lucky enough to choose this one. I just had a simple cheese pizza that was tremendous and my wife has an ahi tunu salad, which she said was fantastic. The prices were a little on the high side, but so is about... More

Was just going to have lunch with friends and walked by ciao, the smells drew us in. We were not disappointed. Two of us had pasta with the spicy red sauce and Italian sausage, very good. I was making mmmm sounds the whole time I was eating. The other friend had pizza. Nice and thin crust and very well made.... More

This popular restaurant has excellent pizza and excellent service ; however, don't go expecting a romantic evening.(You're much better off at Amelia's down the street). Ciao is usually packed and so noisy you can barely talk to your table mates. Now, on the other hand if you're with a loud extrovert type crowd, this is your place. You'll love it.
