We have previously been to Ruby's at Huntington Beach and had really good food/experience. So decided to visit Ruby's in Balboa Peninsular. The Diner is smaller than Huntington Ruby's but you can eat outside. The menu is also smaller obviously because the venue is considerably smaller. The waiter is so happy he was laughing any smiling all the time we... More

Loved the walk on the pier to get to the diner. The food was basic diner food. Great waitress! A bit stuffy in side (no ac). We obviously wanted to eat out side...we're from the Palm Springs area.

Ruby's Diner is one of our favorite places to take the kids. It's especially nice when we are on Balboa Pier. I would definitely recommend that visitors to Balboa/Newport Beach come here at least one to experience it. It's a beautiful walk down the pier with pretty easy parking. Typical Fifties Diner food and really good. The shakes are great,... More

You really can't beat the view. An All-American place, very cute, greasy though yummy menu. A great place for lunch.

Having spent the day on Balboa beach and in need of an ice cream we wandered down the pier to Ruby's Diner. I'm not sure how old the building is (whether it is indeed an authentic Fifties diner - I believe it's part of a chain) but it looked the part, decked out in red and white with leatherette seating... We went for dinner and had excellent burgers (try the teriyaki burger) and shakes. It's a fun atmosphere on the pier overlooking the ocean!

Ruby's Diner has a wonderful location on the pier at Balboa Island. The day we were there, dolphins were swimming by the pier. The food is excellent and the service is superior. They serve great hamburgers and bottomless fries, as well as some fish dishes and ice cream shakes. The staff really wants to make sure you are taken care... More

We eat here all the time, since I work nearby. Sit on the roof top patio and you get the nicest view around. Wait staff are very nice and prompt. The patio has Plexiglas to keep the breeze from blowing your food away, but it would be nice to be able to let a little breeze in on the warmer... More

Went here last weekend after walking around downtown Costa Mesa. There was a little bit of a wait, but we got a good table and had a very nice server. The food was pretty good overall even though it took a little while for our food to arrive. Prices are pretty reasonable. Try the milkshakes when you go, that was... More
