Atmosphere, == at the end of the pier-- can't be beat. A throw back to the '50s..real milk shakes & malts. Burgers, etc.

Went here last weekend after walking around downtown Costa Mesa. There was a little bit of a wait, but we got a good table and had a very nice server. The food was pretty good overall even though it took a little while for our food to arrive. Prices are pretty reasonable. Try the milkshakes when you go, that was... More

I'm not sure how I would rate a Ruby's anyhow, but the Ruby's at the end of Balboa Pier was more show than go. To be fair, they are hampered by a lack of water, thus, paper plates, plastic utensils, paper cups and the like, but that really shouldn't make the food suffer. Don't get me wrong, it was totally... Great shakes and fun atmosphere. The people were friendly and the view is great. It's a fun place to stop on the pier.

It took 40 minutes from walk-in to food. This is a burger joint. The place was not super busy at the time. I think they are understaffed. The place was a little messy too.

The location is great. Neat atmosphere, with period music quietly playing in the background. Service was very prompt and with a smile. If you eat inside, you can get a beer or a glass of wine with your burger. It's a fun little place that reminded me of "Happy Days." My husband and I had a great experience at sunset,... More

This restaurant has a nice view of the ocean since it is located on the Balboa Island Pier. The food was very good. They were very busy so we had to wait a little bit for a seat. We didn't realize that they had tables on the roof until we were leaving. Oh well we will try that next time.... More

My husband and I were in Newport Beach on business but took time off for some fun. Ended up on the pier at dinner time. Watched a beautiful sunset from rooftop seating overlooking the ocean while eating fish and chips. The fish was fresh and dessert - carmel apple pie - was fabulous! It was a bit chilly out but... Take a step back in time with Ruby's Diner on the Pier on Balboa Island. The decor, food and server attire are all from days gone by. It was nice to sit at the end of the pier and look out into the ocean and have lunch. The food was good, hot and served very quickly. The homemade milkshakes were... More
