This was a quick stop for us, friendly service, excellent drinks, fun atmosphere, we enjoyed it more than the other "bars" on this beach!
I don't know what it is they do differently than the other bars on the island but Gertrude's painkiller is my favorite! Mary is a fabulous host and if you have a few too many grab a ride back to your villa with Gertrude's brother Claude! (He lives right next door!!)
Olga makes the BEST homemade mango chutney around! I crave it for weeks prior to visiting. Enjoy it with the chicken roti for lunch. The beer is cold and reasonably priced, the mixed drinks are poured by you so as strong as you desire, and the service is fantastic. Olga remembers me and my husband year after year. There is... More
Cannot say enough great things about the folks at Gertrudes. Glenn was filling in for his Mother and Mary was cooking up some wonderful food. We could not have felt more welcome and at home. My wife and I instantly became good friends with Glenn. Be careful ... It is self pour. When you ask Glenn what you want and... More
What a fantastic spot! We made our own painkillers each day and drank tall and delicious Bushwackers. The grilled Mahi sandwiches were super tasty and so were the conch fritters. Everyone there is always so friendly and that continued this year with Glen who just took it up another notch. By far our favorite beach spot and bartender. Think outside... More

When talking about Island Bars everyone screams Soggy Dollar Bar. I found the next door neighbor, Gertrudes to be way more relaxed. They will mix literally any drink you can dream up and fill it with copious amounts of alcohol, while Gertrude sits back and watches. Great place....don't miss it.
I expected a lot less from a beach bar. I expected even less when we waited forever for our food. But the food was quite good. Plus we were waiting on a beautiful beach. My fried chicken wings were nicely seasoned, crispy, and fresh out of the fryer. The burger had a pretty thick patty that actually covered the bun,... More
We visited White Bay on a sailing charter with 8 friends. All the research says go to "Soggy Dollar Bar" -- an we did. And that's where we discovered Gertrude's -- the best bar on White's Bay! There is a chain of beach bars with trinket stores which starts with Soggy Dollar and goes along the beach line. Gertrude's is... More
