The BEST patties! Yummy dough filled goodness! Awesome chicken roti. Joan was very pleasant. Definite must as you arrive or leave via ferry. Also a fantastic grab and go option. But with all good things, it takes time. Joan and her family are fun to talk with about the local scene. Make sure you have a few minutes to spare,... More

We stop here every year for Chicken Roti, Johnnie Cakes, or whatever the special is. Friendly service, nice person, convenient.

Sugar & Spice is conveniently located a few footsteps away from the ferry dock on Jost Van Dyke. We visited Sugar & Spice to grab a few beers to drink while we waited for the ferry. There are tables directly across the street from Sugar & Spice with an amazing view. I also grabbed a Busta soda for the ferry.... More

It is places like this that keep me coming back to the Islands. Joan is the real deal and this place serves up some serious beef patties, chicken patties, rotis and Johnny Cakes. Come early and come often.

Everybody knows about Foxy's, Soggy Dollar, and Corsairs buts its a local place like this that made our trip perfect. Joan and Kenny were two of our favorite people on the island and they couldn't be more accommodating. We first met them through renting a dinghy for the day. Its a cheap $100 plus gas and if conditions are right,... More

Ask Joan for special orders the location is at the ferry dock. She has snacks and meals. Get a drink and snack before hiking to White Bay.

My husband, son and I traveled on the ferry from St. Thomas to Jost Van Dyke. We left pretty early and were unable to eat before we left. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Sugar and Spice. It is a very clean (the entire island felt very clean!) little restaurant and will be the first thing you encounter when... More

A simple and very reasonably priced local eatery and take-away with excellent food, conveniently located at the Western side of Great Harbour beside the ferry dock. Joan is a great cook and I was very well fed during a 2 night stay on JVD. Evidently a favourite with the locals, Sugar and Spice is as much a 'meal bar' as... More

Sugar and Spice is a small restaurant located right by the ferry dock in Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke--the owner, Joan, is a wonderful cook. We especially liked her "fish and fungi"--it is fish steamed with green and red peppers, onion, garlic, tomatoes --when the fish is finished cornmeal is cooked in the fish water--that's the "fungi". Really it... More
