As a community owned enterprise, we so wanted the hotel on Gigha to be good. However, it was all a. bit chaotic (was our room ready, wasn't it? No receptionist to be found. No one knew when breakfast was served. Kept waiting for room keys. Windows filthy. Carpets looking I hoovered. Shower pretty grim too.) All in all, this place... More

Liked the informal formality of the restaurant here - so much better than the dingy bar or midge ridden outside. Excellent service, good local food and reasonably proced.

Had a really nice fish and chips here. Friendly service and quite traditional. A safe choice for eating if unspectacular.

visited with friends whilst on the island to watch a race and was hoping for a meal to match the fantastic setting of the hotel .I was with friends and just looking for a light lunch however the burger I had was pretty average so a bit disappointed given some of the other reviews .

The restaurant/pub has several rooms which are ok. The food is simple but good. We enjoyed steaks after a long hike - right kind of food for us.

Welcoming, enthusiastic staff, plain simple food which was just what was needed! Gigha is 20 mins on the ferry and you can hire bikes at the terminal when you get there, it is a beautiful island and the islanders are delighted to welcome tourists who take the trouble to see it. The hotel looks a good standard and the bar... More

We had a day in Gigha and started with lunch at the Gigha hotel. The fact that it was a lovely day and we could sit outside was a bonus. There is a good range of sandwiches and salads and the service was really kind and friendly. I was impressed that there was fresh scallops on the menu if you... More

We enjoyed an evening meal here of local halibut and seafood salad in the wee bit by bar. The food was good and prices as expected for an island restaurant. The food was really good and we cleared our plates but no room for dessert. After a cycle to the north of the island we returned for a warming cup... More

The Gigha Hotel epitomises the general feel on this beautiful community-owned island. You get a great, friendly welcome, with knowledgeable staff eager to please. Don't expect haute cuisine - this is a small rural community, eking out an existence from a short tourist season as best they can. Food (particularly the fish & chips) is average rather than excellent, but... More
