Surprisingly good

We visited the island by boat and hoped to eat at the Boathouse restaurant but I was curtly told they are shut on Monday evening when I tried to book. the Gigha hotel, like everything else on the island, is owned by the community and as such should be supported by visitors. The menu contains lots of locally sourced food and is reasonably priced. Eating out in the garden, looking over the water to Kintyre, is very pleasant, weather permitting. The baguettes, eat in or take-away, are a good size... More

this small hotel has recently had new management, who would appear to have continued the tradition of providing good quality food to travellers. The restaurant is very good.

Great place to stay- not just because of the quality of the room and service, but because of the ethos of employing local people to staff the place - they may not all be silver service trained but boy are they pleasant; the information we got from reception about weather for the next day was great, and the need for... I recently sailed into Gigha with a couple of friends and we needed dinner. There were a further six boats in the anchorage and we all needed to be fed. There were also people camping nearby who also needed dinner. On the slip is a restaurant called The Boat House but the occupants seemed to have gone AWOL as no... More

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Gigha Hotel, and we ate in the hotel restaurant on both evenings. I was a bit surprised to find a couple of really negative reviews about the food on here. All our food was delicious - so no complaints at all from us. Our starters were smoked mackerel, scallops,... While biking the little island we stopped for lunch at the Gigha hotel and found a very warm welcome there. The little - a bit old fashioned looking - pub room was very cosy. I'm having always a little bit of difficulties to find some stuff to eat as I'm vegan, but the lovely lady explained everything and tried to... More

Popped into Gigha on sailing holiday, one of our family annual stops, which normally entails a trip to Gigha Hotel for a meal. Never will I go back there!!! My recommendation is do not waste your hard earned cash. Steak and Ale pie was grey, yes grey, meatless with onions and had a piece of uncooked puff pastry on top.... More

As a community owned enterprise, we so wanted the hotel on Gigha to be good. However, it was all a. bit chaotic (was our room ready, wasn't it? No receptionist to be found. No one knew when breakfast was served. Kept waiting for room keys. Windows filthy. Carpets looking I hoovered. Shower pretty grim too.) All in all, this place... More
