We were visiting Newark and i had read a good review about this place good for gluten free diets (my mother-in-lew needs gluten free). When we entered i thought it all looked a bit old and unwelcoming but it looked like they were updating the place. The manager said she had 3 new starters and please bear with them which... More

We stopped at Newark for a meal during a long car journey. We happened upon the White Hart quite by chance. All three of us enjoyed our meals, my wife said that the garlic mushroom starter was one of the nicest she's had. She also enjoyed the Moules Mariniere. I had the whitebait starter and a venison and blackberry pie... More

Called here today for lunch. Decided to order from the menu offering two courses for £12.50. Ordered two tiger prawn starters at a supplement of £3.00 each, fair enough. Also ordered two goats cheese salads. Waited 45mins for our starters and although the prawns were fine the salad was boring and tasteless. Main course followed about 15 mins later and yes... More

This is a lovely place, with lovely food and ideally placed just off the market square. I had the mussels, for main and they were divine. Their sauce was exceptional - so much so I asked for a spoon so as not to waste any. My husband had a pie which was extremely tasty and the accompanying gravy superb. Shame... More

Our favorite watering hole in Newark. As was said at the end of our lovely meal this place never lets us down, It's always welcoming and friendly with a very comfortable atmosphere we go there time and time again and are never disappointed the service is spot on and delivered with a smile.

Mum and I visited the White Hart for first time today. Mum asked for a child's portion of ham salad. She said the ham was fab and the portion was huge. I had the Salmon and broccoli pie with chips. The best chips I have had in years and the pie was superb. Carol, the landlords Mum served us and... More

Well we went out for a nice Sundsy lunch, Disappointed does not do it justice. We both had Sunday lunch. The menu said all home cooked food. The lonely tiny Yorkshire Pud was smaller and tasted exactly like an aunt Bessie. The lager was £4,50 a pint. Avoid avoid. I live quite close and feel like a ripped off tourist... More

On holiday from Adelaide, South Australia, we chose Newark as a place to stop on our travels through the mid North. We strolled around the market place and found The White Hart. It looked like an attractive pub and the menu promised an interesting range of homemade food. We were delighted with the meal which more than lived up to... More
