We popped in here as we were in the area and saw Wheatsheaf on Trip Advisor. Great Decision! Very pleasing to see smart and friendly staff. Great choice on the menu as well spotting the board of specials we nearly missed. The food was delicious and well presented. If your passing through I recommend to give it a go. Very... More

After promising myself to get to their beer festival I took the wife along and managed to get a table , the staff were great (we were lucky as we never booked) great choice once again on the menus, the food was great and presented beautifully, and then it was off round the back to the marquee to sample the... Went for early evening meal, not many people in apart from group with several children in bar area. One lady seemed to be doing everything, bar, taking orders, bringing food and clearing plates, she was very pleasant. Not as much choice on menu as was on website. Food was well cooked and nicely presented. There just seems to be something... More

We were in the local area for the weekend and were lucky enough to come across the Wheatsheaf Inn. It is a charming, very well presented pub with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. It has lovely views and outside seating which is where we sat for our first drink. Once inside the pub the staff were very friendly and asked... More

Myself, wife and 2 kids popped in here last week on our way back from Eastbourne, now I don't usually write on trip adviser but do use it I couldn't help but have a look due to their beer festival (I love ales) what I don't get is some unfair comments, everyone is entitled to their opinion but what we... The service at the wheat sheaf is always with a smile, but the wait for food to arrive was far to long for a quiet lunch time. Deserts didn't arrive for half an hour, and were not as good as previous visits. The uniform seems to have changed since our last visit, standards may be slipping slightly and it does... More

My husband and I were recommended the Wheatsheaf Inn by friends, after they had popped in for a meal since the new management. We were so glad we did as what we found was friendly staff nothing was too much hassle, great food at very reasonable prices. If you are out that way give it a go, we will definitely... More

And in this instance that's not we found. It's under new management since I last wrote a review and it appears to be heading the wrong way. The food was ok but the whole overall experience was just very average and average just isn't good enough when there are places in the area which are good. There is very little... More

Myself and the wife popped in for lunch on our route to Yorkshire. Lovely place and great atmosphere with great surroundings of a church tower ready to collapse! I had the chicken sandwich which was lovely and the other half had cod and chips. Both great! I would say we will return again when in the area.

Call here en-route to a rugby match. Didn't know it was advisable to book. However, when we arrived there didn't seem many people in the restaurant but was told we'd have a 30 mins wait to take our order. Nothing really leapt out from the menu. My son had the chicken which he said was okay, my wife had the... More
