SAMSI has been trading for 19 years in April, specialising in Japanese cuisine and food stuff. It began as an award-winning restaurant, which quickly expanded into four different cities in the North west of England. In response to customer request we began importing and selling ingredients in retail sizes while continuing to search Japan for the highest quality restaurant ingredients.

The service was fine; attentive and unobtrusive, and the food arrived in good time. the wine list was very acceptable in the context of what are now considered normal prices in restaurants; the Jarrah shiraz went down very well. However, chopsticks notwithstanding, there must be some question marks in respect of the authenticity of the cuisine. Two of our party... More

Ate downstairs in the 'standard seating' area on a Friday night, they do have an area upstairs for if you want a traditional Japanese experience with floor cushions etc. The food was lovely, on our table we had a mixture of Sushi, Katsu, Tempura and Meat dishes and the house white wine was more than drinkable. This was all let... More

I have eaten here a number of times now and love the place. The whole experience is always great. The food is cooked fresh to order, really tasty. I've spent five hours over a number of course for dinner here on more than one occasion. It's relaxed and fun, nice friendly staff. Trying the Sake is a must. I recommend... More

"Let's try something different like a Japanese meal" was the starting conversation, which isn't an easy task when there are so few Japanese restaurants to choose from other than main Cities. It had to be authentic too, not just a Sushi bar, or tempura and I found Samsi in Wilmslow. The reviews were mixed but the food always came out... More

There is absolutely no management in this establishment !!!!!Yesterday evening my kids fancied sushi .Reluctantly I agreed to take them to Samsi . Having been here before I knew the service isn't great but what I experienced last night beggars belief !! All I say is read the trip advisor reviews there's no smoke without fire !!We arrived just after... More

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather and I thought a miso soup and some sushi would help. Great hospitality and kind service. Decor is traditionally Japanese and that appeals to me. Background music is quiet, pleasant but unobtrusive. Give this place a shot. Might be wise to pre-book on weekends and Fridays though!

I wrote a negative review in December for a takeaway order. I am giving the place a second chance. I ordered delivery at 7:20 and was told food arrive in 30 minutes. 1 hour later .... Nothing. Maybe it is a good place to eat at inside but their takeaway and delivery services are awful. Just called them to ask... More

A bit harsh. I was compelled to write a thousand word justification which I lost when my battery went. Just as well, the facts are simply that at peak times 7.30-9pm Friday and Saturday's deliveries are not speedy. We have a restaurant full of customers and takeaway collections. Deliveries take at least 50 minutes , probably longer. Please don't order... More

The Wilmslow Samsi doesn't seem to have moved with the times. From a slightly tired decor to standard Japanese fair it seems like it has the same menu it had 15 years ago. Which coincidentally was the last time we visited. Don't get me wrong. Food was tasty and the eel was very authentic tasting but I feel its been... More

We redecorated last November. Sorry if it seemed snoozy still. We promise that we have changed the menu . Our sushi menu is probably 10 times the size it was when we opened in 1993 .True, Our banquet menu and many dishes have stood test of time . Our samurai feast has hardly changed . Still we now have Japanese... More

Dined here recently on business with part of the draw the early bird menu which was not available to us (although was to a local who came in after us, very naughty). Although restaurant was not busy for first hour we were there service paid more attention to developing specials than attending to customers. When we finally ordered and finally... More

Truly nothing is pre-soaked. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. You actually opted for a range of ultra traditional dishes . Miso is fermented soy bean paste so made fresh is a strong flavour. We contemplated taking Yakiudon off the men recently as it is quite unusual. Very thick White noodles, almost chewy. Delicious once you acquire a... More
