SAMSI has been trading for 19 years in April, specialising in Japanese cuisine and food stuff. It began as an award-winning restaurant, which quickly expanded into four different cities in the North west of England. In response to customer request we began importing and selling ingredients in retail sizes while continuing to search Japan for the highest quality restaurant ingredients.

Not bad. But needs to up its game.

The Wilmslow Samsi doesn't seem to have moved with the times. From a slightly tired decor to standard Japanese fair it seems like it has the same menu it had 15 years ago. Which coincidentally was the last time we visited. Don't get me wrong. Food was tasty and the eel was very authentic tasting... read more

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather and I thought a miso soup and some sushi would help. Great hospitality and kind service. Decor is traditionally Japanese and that appeals to me. Background music is quiet, pleasant but unobtrusive. Give this place a shot. Might be wise to pre-book on weekends and Fridays though!

I wrote a negative review in December for a takeaway order. I am giving the place a second chance. I ordered delivery at 7:20 and was told food arrive in 30 minutes. 1 hour later .... Nothing. Maybe it is a good place to eat at inside but their takeaway and delivery services are awful. Just called them to ask... More

Dined here recently on business with part of the draw the early bird menu which was not available to us (although was to a local who came in after us, very naughty). Although restaurant was not busy for first hour we were there service paid more attention to developing specials than attending to customers. When we finally ordered and finally... More

Truly nothing is pre-soaked. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. You actually opted for a range of ultra traditional dishes . Miso is fermented soy bean paste so made fresh is a strong flavour. We contemplated taking Yakiudon off the men recently as it is quite unusual. Very thick White noodles, almost chewy. Delicious once you acquire a... More

Me and my boyfriend had been craving sushi that wasn't from Yo Sushi! for a while and had been eager to try Samsi after passing multiple times. After trying to go a number of times and it being shut, we finally got a table and were very excited. Things went downhill instantly after being seated when we both asked for... More

In fairness to our befuddled waiter, It is very rare for two people to come in and share one dish. We do try to double check if the orders are unusual. I think appalling service is a little sharp in comparison to the favourite that is quoted where the restaurant concept is to seat and serve yourself. I'm befuddled myself... More

Having been one of the first through the doors when it first opened this restaurant has been one of my favourites, I even drove all the way from Edinburgh and back in a night just to have dinner... Having been there last night was upset to find the menu changed, less sushi and less hot dishes and more price, and... More

We are sorry you missed the old menu. Our customers who live nearby and eat with us regularly demand that the menu be updated every few years. Our prices still beat even the most basic chain noodle bars. We opened in 1993 yet our prices are still within £1 of our opening night. This is a function of the fact... More

Went here last night on a Living Social deal, and had a lovely meal and excellent service. The food was cooked fresh to order and was really tasty, the wine was very well priced and our bottle of Chilian Sauvignon Blanc @£13.95 was superb. The service was a bit slow, but we like it that way.Downstairs was full, not sure about upstairs. Will definitely... More

I decided to try out Japanese food for the first time, I saw on tripadvisor this place, it had mixed reviews so I thought why not figure it out for myself. I must say I was delightfully suprised as the evening went, the staff made sure I had a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful as I've... More

Thank you so much. We're making sure our customers are leaving the restaurant happy. There are some cases that we don't expect to happen especially on a busy day, bad things happen and we don't want that either. Shehzad has been a really good staff member, he always want to make sure that everybody will get good service and are... More
