The signature dish of Cyprus - Kleftiko literally means "stolen lamb”. The story goes that the "Greek Kleftes," Bandits who hid in the mountains, would sometimes steal a lamb for food. They cooked it sealed tightly on a buried pit of coals to keep a low profile, and not give away their hideout by sight and smell. My paternal Grandfather 'George' was known for his Lamb and Goat rearing in Famagusta, Cyprus. His Farm produced milk to make the famous Cypriot cheese Halloumi and his lambs were a treat to eat. The Restaurant will continue to use the finest local produce specializing in Cheshire Lamb.My maternal Grandfather, also called George, was famous for cooking the signature dish, in both his village of Kyrenia Cyprus where he was taught, and continues now in Manchester. We will be using the same recipe to cook the dish here at the restaurant. (We are lucky as his recipes are unique and he keeps them close to his heart). The restaurant embraces old Family recipes combined with new style to offer the ultimate Greek Dining Experience. Our cooking methods include, using a traditional wood-fired clay oven and a coal fired BBQ to give the full flavour to our food.Chef George & the team

Fantastic

I took my mum here for dinner and we had the meze 4 course dinner. It was amazing. The wine was equally as good and for what we had it was really good value. Cannot praise the quality of the food enough, lovely atmosphere too. Only slight downside was the service towards the end went a bit slow but... read more

I adore Greek food but can find some Greek restaurants very dull but the stolen Lamb was so good. The service was great, the decor and atmosphere was very authentic and the food was simply delicious. I will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this place.

The Stolen Lamb is one of the best restaurants I have visited. The food is incredible and the service is brilliant. There is a wide range of food to chose from and the staff know a lot about the different dishes.

Went to the Stolen Lamb for an early evening meal for two and we were extremely impressed. The waiters were extremely attentive from the beginning, taking our coats for us and sitting us in a window seat. We ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and the lamb House special which were both exquisitely cooked and well presented. Side salad was well-dressed and... More

Very enjoyable lunch at The Stolen Lamb, Wilmslow now becoming a favourite. Chicken Souvoulaki was superb, served with olive and yoghurt dips, fabulous home cooked chips and side salad, together with a Mythos beer took me straight back to wonderful Greek holidays. The prices are reasonable and the service relaxed. Looking forward to my next visit.

We are no strangers to Greek food - we have been visiting all over Greece for nearly 20 years and love the cuisine. The food that Yiorgos cooked for us (House Mezes) was nothing short of incredible! The flavours were unbelievably good - the man is a genius! Service was faultless! An amazing restaurant! Efharisto poli!
