Housed in a 16th Century building in the historic town of Horsham, Restaurant Tristan opened in 2008 and has been a firm favourite with local foodies ever since. Inside, original wooden beams contrast with contemporary style to create an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Chef and Proprietor Tristan Mason worked in top restaurants like The Greenhouse and Mirabelle before becoming Head Chef at The Hare where he achieved his first Michelin Star. The menu at Restaurant Tristan is predominantly British with some creative French influences, with dishes like terrine of pheasant and turbot with truffle risotto taking centre stage. Ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible and the extensive wine list is designed to complete this truly unforgettable dining experience.

We dined here one evening last week and were a little disappointed to find that the tables were so closely placed that we could hear every word the couple at the next table spoke. The food was nicely presented with imaginative "amuse-bouche" to start. Service was rather slow, despite there being plenty of staff on hand. We ordered the tasting... More

I agree with much of what the previous reviewer has said. The decor/ambience was ok, but a little underwhelming for a Michelin starred place, and it did feel a bit gastropub; the tables are certainly too close together. The food was generally very nice indeed, but none of the 8 courses were "wow" courses, and a couple of them were... More

We visited restaurant Tristan for my birthday and all I can say is wow! What a lovely experience! The food was amazing! We had the summer 4 course tasting menu.. I had the scallops to start, 65 degree duck egg, lamb and the peach soufflé, my boyfriend had rabbit lobster and sweetcorn, pork, lamb and the chocolate, salted caramel desert.... More

Our visit was for a birthday celebration and unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. The decor of the venue was slightly disappointing and we were shocked to see that there was no real area for pre drinks, we asked if we could have a pre drink before being seen to our table and we were shown to a table... Another dinner at Tristan's - can't say its better than our previous visits - because every visit is as good as it was before. The waiting staff are lovely and not only do they serve everything spot on for lunch/dinner - they also make excellent coffee in the morning as well with very very naughty cakes, almond croissants or try... We have been before. Last night was the usual seemless professional service. We ate downstairs in the window, a large family walked by, trailed by a sauntering nine year old boy hand in hand with his grandfather. The boy stopped turned and pointed up to the windows of the diners upstairs, "We have eaten in there..it is just..just brilliant". Well... More

Came here for my birthday with my lovely wife and had a wonderful time. The staff were friendly and the food was served promptly. I particularly enjoyed the egg cooked at 65degrees. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good sit in dinner!

Before I begin this review I would just like to say I’ve eaten in many 1,2 and 3 Mich star restaurants and I’m a massive foodie so I would like to think I know what I’m talking about. For those of you thinking ‘he’s just showing off’ well I can assure you that’s not the case. I think it’s important... More

A very smart venue in central Horsham A birthday luncheon party for six. Friendly and efficient staff. Four courses of innovative, attractively presented and delicious dishes accompanied by a seemingly inexhaustible flow of gorgeous breads for £30 a head. An interesting range of sensibly priced wines, some by the glass. What more could a gastronome (or glutton!) ask for?
