Description: Housed in a 16th Century building in the historic town of Horsham, Restaurant Tristan opened in 2008 and has been a firm favourite with local foodies ever since. Inside, original wooden beams contrast with contemporary style to create an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Chef and Proprietor Tristan Mason worked in top restaurants like The Greenhouse and Mirabelle before becoming Head Chef at The Hare where he achieved his first Michelin Star. The menu at Restaurant Tristan is predominantly British with some creative French influences, with dishes like terrine of pheasant and turbot with truffle risotto taking centre stage. Ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible and the extensive wine list is designed to complete this truly unforgettable dining experience.

We went out for dinner with our next door neighbours, it is so nice to have such an amazing restaurant in horsham, being a local and all. we arrived at 7 and before you know it it was midnight!! We had recommended the wine pairing we had tried before, which was amazing and so we tried it again this time... More

Went there on a Saturday night for our wedding anniversary as Wabi has burnt down! When I go to somewhere like Tristians you want it to be perfect and on this visit it was pretty close to perfect. Tip... My wife eats fish but doesn't eat meat so chose dishes without meat in the menu description.... However as informed by... More

First trip to Tristan and being the closest Michelin started restaurant to me, I was keen to see what they offered - I was not disappointed!! Had the taster menu with matching wines which, at £90, is half the price of something of the same quality in London! Each course was a delight and the wines were perfect matches. The... More

Visited this restaurant with friends for Saturday lunch (prix fixe 18 pounds) found the food disappointing and extremely expensive. The main ingredients were good but had been overseasoned which meant that my sole was overpowered. Also the dishes had too much cress or sprouting seeds which made us look like rabbits eating grass! The saving grace was an excellent raspberry souffle.... More

We were on the reserve list for Saturday night & were delighted to be contacted offering a table later in evening. Our amuse bouche was excellent (mackerel veloute) followed by scallop & crab (always a good combination), my main a little odd (my fault for ordering lamb/kid/goat - when will I learn..) & my sweet an unusual assortment of tastes... From the very beginning Tristan has produced the most inventive quality cooking in the South East matching the very best of the more famous names in Michelin standard cooking including those in London. Unlike many he provides his invention across all courses unlike many of his contemporaries.

We made a trip on the recommendations of work colleagues which, it transpired, were more than vindicated. The £25 three course lunch menu was superb throughout which was unexpectedly preceded with a blissful amuse bouche of a beetroot and trout emulsion. The crab starter and black bream main with a side of jersey royals were all fresh, delicious and beautifully... More

This was our first experience in a Michelin starred restaurant, my husband enjoys fine food but I am fussy so I've never felt the urge to visit one, but as a very belated Christmas present we ventured the 45 minutes to Horsham to experience Tristan's last night (Tuesday). Firstly, I really liked the setting, old beams, nice tables and chairs... More

This is the second visit to Tristans. The first a few years ago before the star an then last night. To be honest it was better a few years ago.The service is pleasant and not in your face, very welcoming. The food presentation is pleasing to the eye but lack flavour. I had the scallops and crab. The scallops were... More
