Lunchtime meal for three, our second visit. Authentic Italian taste. Pleasant surroundings and friendly efficient staff. Nice clean quirky little restaurant. Would recommend to all.

We usually stick to restaurant chsind that are offering discounts but so pleased we went to this Independent gem instead this time. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday lunchtime but after a friendly welcome we sat down and chose a vegetarian starter to share (more than enough for two) and then the calves liver for my husband and pasta dish for... Popped in for late Saturday lunch with the kids and was surprised to find the restaurant empty. This place should be more popular - the food (including fab pizzas) is authentic, great value and very tasty. I'd far rather eat proper home-made food than go to one of the many chains in town. The staff are lovely and the kids... More

The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice - it is true. Wine and starters were OK. But the main coursers, at least my dish (pasta with sausages - signature dish), was below average. I tried my husband's one (another signature dish) and also wasn't really happy with it. Anyways, it was better than mine, but after all the reviews here,... More

We stumbled across this restaurant, Carmela, in Horsham, to be astounded by the truly authentic Sicilian food. Meatballs like you've never tasted served with hot homemade bread ready to soak up a gorgeous sauce. Another dish we had, which was chicken served with peppers and croutons had by my wife was to quote her "Very, very good." As for the... More

Fri 29 Aug 2014, 20:45, 2 covers. Very attentive service, great food, very pleasant venue. Food tasted and 'felt' authentic Italian, with plenty of Italian-speaking staff... fairly rustic feel to the place, and very homely. I had the calves liver, which was fab, and also the garlic bread as an extra - home-made, almost cake-like, and "to die for"!!! ...ditto... More

We were given a nice area upstairs where we could mingle and catch up with friends. We all new what we were having as they would only take booking if we pre ordered. Why! Anyway general feeling was good service, some food warm such as the wild boar/ game stew. Some felt let down on quantity of food but agreed... More

Our family has been going regularly since Carmella's opened. It started off good and has steadily got better. Now there is a lovely outdoors area flanked with olive trees although, as keen gardeners, we are puzzled how they have managed to grow them in Horsham. It is a great place to just go for a drink on a summer's afternoon... More

Went there for our daughter's 21st birthday. Despite bringing a massive birthday balloon with her, only time any of the staff wished her happy birthday was when they brought the bill (which was wrong, overcharged for drinks)! Miserable service yet an obligatory 10% service charge. Main courses OK but not cheap. Deserts very poor and expensive. Pannacotta with chocolate sauce... More
