My partner booked this for my birthday, he emailed them to ask whether they could offer anything special for a birthday but they didn't bother to reply. The path from the car park to the hotel is very dark, it needs better lighting. Service was very slow, the drinks took ages to arrive, my 2nd glass of wine didn't arrive... More

I decided to visit this restaurant to experience the food of the Masterchef winner Steven Edwards' and his team. It is so nice to have a local restaurant providing such a high level of dining. I was so pleased to see that children were catered for with a separate menu (which our 8 year old son enjoyed) so we booked... More

I visited the Camellia for the first time for lunch although I had been to South Lodge previously for Afternoon tea. The first surprise was on being served pre lunch drinks as I assumed this being an upmarket hotel that our drinks would be served with nibbles such as nuts and olives, however there was nothing to accompany them at... Walked in and thought of a stuffy golf club. The staff were welcoming and attentive and gave you time and space. The meal ... Holy cow: Unbelievable. Best I have had for years. Go, try and let the world know. Go back and do it all again... (the decor is old... but who cares...).

it's a lovely room, and the service is enthusiastic if a little amateur. It's the sort of place your well-travelled maiden aunt would be impressed by. The food is not particularly imaginative, but it's very well executed.

The set lunch at the Camellia is a good deal but I would certainly not count it as value for money on the a la carte. We had a pleasant lunch here, nice surroundings, beautiful views and I would not say "don't go there" as it was a pleasant experience, but only as a one off. My duck starter was... More

we were brought a £75 voucher for the Camellia Restaurant as a wedding present, and we are so happy with our experience. We were welcomed and asked to sit in a relaxing lounge where we had a drink and some bar snacks. When looking at the menu the staff were extremely helpful and we were recommended a wine to go... We really enjoyed our evening in the Camellia Restaurant; nice food, nice wine, nice surroundings. All courses very very tasty. Definately worth a go if you're staying there.
