We visited the Camillia restaurant for our wedding anniversary to try the well published food. Our experience was very disappointing primerily because of the very poor service, the whole four course meal took ONE hour. The cost of the meal for two was £146 for a one hour experience. The food although very good had very small portions so we... More

This was a birthday surprise meal and it was a really great night out. The food and service are both excellent. The atomosphere is lovely, calm , but attentive to your every need. There were 6 of us and I think we each had something different from the menu.

This used to be a good restaurant in a nice hotel. Our meal was terrible. The service was really, really slow which was a nightmare as we had young children who were getting increasingly bored and hungry. Starters took an hour to arrive. My starter was a goat's cheese salad and was not particularly nice. I had chicken as a... More

My husband and I had dinner here last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary! We both had the market set menu and chose different options so that we could half everything and try more! All of the food was gorgeous! The setting is lovely, we had a pre dinner drink and nibbles in the piano lounge where a pianist was... More

This used to be one of our favourite places to eat.Today, we went there with the usual expectations but were sorely disappointed. We chose from the Market Menu. The starters and the deserts were ok (just) but the main course was more akin to hospital food than what you would expect from such an establishment. The service was slow and... More

The restaurant is in an old country house now a hotel set in lovely grounds. We had three courses of simply named but exceptionally tasty food using seasonal produce. An english sparkling Nyetimber washed it all down. Service was very attentive. A good separate vegetarian menu.

A while since we've been here - silly us - should go more often! Went with friends to celebrate my special birthday so no expense spared! South Lodge is set in beautiful countryside and you know as you drive in it is going to be a special experience and so it proved to be. The staff are smart, courteous and... More

The food in this place is incredible. I went for the Masterchef Pro's winning menu. You can tell why it won (and I've eaten in the runner up Claxton Grill as well). Steven Edwards can cook! I mean really cook! The only meal I've ever had comparable was was Jason Atherton's Social Eating House in Soho. The staff are very... More

My wife and our two sons went to have a Sunday lunch at the Camelia and the food was beautiful. The service was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff. I would highly recommend this to anyone that appreciates great food.

I had been looking forward to dining in this restaurant as the head chef had won Professional Masterchef last year. I was expecting the food to be good, if not great. For starters I had the Mackerel with horseradish. This was OK but surprisingly bland. For the main, I chose the pork. This was where it went badly wrong. I... More

Dear JA000, We are all sorry you did not enjoy your visit. As you have been in contact with David I do not feel the need to reiterate our comments, especially as you have copied them in your review below. It is always important to remember food is subjective. You clearly had high expectations of The Camellia given Steven’s performance... More
