Christmas dinner a big disappointment

The Brewers has been our local for some years, where we have enjoyed freshly cooked and reasonably priced bar meals and the pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. So we turned down the chance of Christmas dinner at an alternative popular venue, at £37.50, for the same at the Brewers Arms for £50. We... read more

It's still one of my favourites for a pint and a chat - great world war 2 bomber memorabilia. Great beer and a nice layout - the only downside is that the price of the food is a bit on the high side for a local pub - portions are decent, but just on the pricey side for mostly 'standard'... More

Chris and Chrissie and their staff make this pub a pleasure to visit. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The pub itself is a traditional pub which has a good reputation within the community. The outside seating area is perfect for families, with the climbing frame and garden area for the kids to play on. The rooms have recently been... More

We ate here last night and my wife and I were both disappointed with the food. My wife has the whole crab which she felt wasn't as fresh as it should be and the salad lacked imagination just lettuce and cucumber and onion no peppers or tomatoes. I ordered the half kilo of mussels in a cream of garlic sauce... More

We actually stumbled across the place after trying a few others that were closed beforehand, and it turned out to be the better choice! The staff were very welcoming from the off and there was a really pleasant atmosphere about the place. The menu was pretty pub standard, all home made with a few decent specials up on the boards... Had a great meal. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked, and the best chips I've ever had in a restaurant (I hate oven or frozen chips that chain pubs serve). The only (slight) disappointment was the lack of bottled still water.
