We tried the Lowther for a Sunday night tea (it is notoriously difficult to find places to eat on sunday evenings) and whilst it was a shame that we were the only customers eating that evening, we enjoyed a lovely meal. The menu offers some nice upmarket options and we both enjoyed our food (steak and chicken and BBQ chicken)... More

Great staff with a real enthusiasm for food, created a lovely atmosphere. The choice of food was all tempting so I'll have to call again to try something different. We then went next door to the cocktail bar for drinks. Quality night! Great to see its popular. I hear the breakfasts are amazing too - will definitely try that soon!

Went here for lunch on one of our regular visits to Goole. To be frank, the food experience here never varies from excellent. But today, I had a "Beef Dipping Sandwich", not really knowing what to expect. What arrived (see the pic) was an amazing sandwich - toasted brown bread stuffed with delicious, tender, shredded beef, laced with utterly scrummy... More

From the reviews on this site I was expecting a great experience. Guess it proves it is best to be pleasantly surprised rather than expecting something great and it turns out to be mediocre at best. I don't know what the building was like pre-restoration, but the restaurant and bar have been restored on the cheap. Cheap fittings and fixtures... More

Thank you for your comments which are most interesting. When we opened we were nominated and won the Chairman's Award for the outstanding quality of renovation and refurbishment of the building and it's facilities. Since then we have acheived the AA's highest award for a 3 Star hotel and appear in their Top 100 Hotels publication. In October we were... More

Think the owners have done an excellent job of restoring this building. Inside it is beautiful! Have had lunch there and the food was incredible! enormous portions and well worth the money. Cocktails are brilliant and the atmosphere on an evening is fun and relaxed.

I called in with a friend for lunch on the 12th February as it was pancake day. It was very busy but the girl serving always had a smile on her face and made sure that we had everything we needed/wanted. Unfortunately it would appear that she was the only person doing any work other than the person cooking the... More

Came to the Lowther's Burlington Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, food was delicious & excellent value for money! Loved the atmosphere in the cocktail bar, very relaxing & staff in both restaurant & cocktail bar were so attentive - couldn't do enough to help! Cannot recommend highly enough!
