good local food

Good choice of local produce on the menu, I had the Lancashire hot pot and mum had the fish pie, very happy with both, if a little too hot on arrival and it took a few minutes to cool down to a temperature that wouldn't burn our tongues off. The sharing bread plate was a little disappointing, just... read more

we revisited this lovely place again this Sunday for the second time. Again we found the service food and welcome second to none, as before. It is a lovely place to relax and eat, although busy, the atmosphere is very calm and you can actually hear yourselves speaking. Once again lovely quality dining and dessert of apple crumble recomended.

May I just comment that all poor reviews are nullified as soon as the wrong chef is named. See review below. Thankyou. It's a great restaurant and all the staff are lovely, food delicious and managers very helpful. Lamb chops served to perfection.

This is my second visit to Nigel Slaters restaurants ,both have been disappointing.Service very poor, waited 20 mins for order to be taken,30 mins between finishing one course ,okay if a romantic dinner,no good for family meals. The place lacked atmosphere, people talking in whispered voices as no background music. We asked for Pimms ,not available alternative given but waitress's could not tell... More

Starters were great (recommend the cheese souffle ),mains was ok (fish pie was very dry) and then I ordered the pancakes with chocolate. The pancake was "pre cooked or pre bought " and then folded with a large lump of nuttela placed in the middle and then ice cream placed in a small dish. This was then placed in a micro... More

Came here with high expectations after reading favourable reviews on Trip advisor. We got turned away a few weeks ago because they were so busy but decided to actually 'book' a table in advance this time. Really enjoyed all of the dishes we had and we had quite a few. This place isn't cheap but everything on the menu is... More

After a few successful previous visits to the Clog and Billycock we thought it an appropriate venue for dinner out with a treasured friend. We were wrong. The evening started with the twice baked cheese souffle not being available. The second choices of ribs for two of us and shrimps for our friend were very nice however. Main courses were... More

This was our third visit and we have always enjoyed it but the customer service was dreadful today!!!! The service was slow, an incorrect meal was served but no one seemed to care, even when we highlighted it again!!! No one asked if we had enjoyed the meal, even when we handed over the £73.00. Dreadful and wont be returning!!!!

My partner and I visited The Clog & Billycock as we were exploring The West Pennine Moors and around Blackburn. It was off the beaten track but the food and drink was of quality, as was the service. The character of the building also made the experience that bit more comfortable. We weren't in a rush and it was so... More

The food is first-rate with many interesting and unusual choices. The atmosphere is friendly and this must be one of the best meals I've had in a "pub".
