GOOD FOOD

We visited the Barns at 7pm for a pre-booked table and found it already busy. This did not detract from the service however, which was good. We decided to skip starters and our mains were duly delivered. All were of good quality and everyone was impressed with their meal. We did not feel rushed... read more

The Barnes is such a nice place to visit as the staff are so friendly and helpful. However both times I have visited recently I have been disappointed with the food. This time I ordered gougons and chips and when they arrived the chips were just pale and soggy and the gougons were overcooked bordering on burnt. For me they... More

This is a fantastic place to eat good quality English food. I would always choose eating here because you get excellent quality every time. On the negative for you (not them) if you plan to eat here then book well in advance. I prefer to eat downstairs rather than up. Upstairs is more of a wedding room. Give it a... More

Went there for a meal with a large party. Ordered starters and most were lovely but two people had the fish sharer for £15 and had no lobster tail. Mentioned this when the plates were cleared and they said we should have been told the lobster was sold out which we weren't. We had to go to the bar for... More

Visited here a few Sundays a go with my friends for lunch. We were very quickly shown to a table even though we hadn't booked, and our order was taken promptly. The food was delicious, so so good, I had the lamb and it literally fell off the bone and both the girls that were with me say their meals... More

Visited on a weekday evening, staff very quick to serve and attentive. Chose the set menu as there was plenty of choice, in all 3 courses. All starters were excellent and a little different to the usual expected set choices. The main arrived and the only slight problem was there was too many extra dishes to find room on the... More

Had a meal with 28 people for my Wife's 40th Birthday, couldn't fault it. Nothing to much trouble, food was excellent, more than enough, had a lamb shoulder & the lamb dropped off the bone. Food was served hot, starters & deserts were huge, I left feeling full & appreciative of great value for money. No one in our party... More

As I expected little has improved since my last visit. Steaks served via a large platter rather than plated individually. Well done steaks sitting within the blood of rare steaks, onion rings also on platter with blood. This is very poor. Belly pork undercooked meat and over cooked crackling. Vegetables served via staff members resulting in cold veg. These should... More

What has become of this place, was my girlfriend and i unlucky to be served such a poor all round meal. It was last minute choice, we hadn't booked and we were pleased to be told a table for two could be found for us We both chose steak, i chose chips with salad while my partner chose new potatoes...
