Nice meal - huge portions

We visited the Eight Bells as we have visited before when we have been on the Isle of Wight. A good meal. There were colouring activities for the kids whilst they waited for their meals. I ordered the Vegetable Fajita Platter, and it was huge. I couldn't eat it all. Would visit again.

Called in for lunch with the grandsons whilst over on the Island as it is convenient for Carisbrooke Castle. We ordered Chicken and Ham Pie and Macaroni Cheese for the children. The only bit of the pastry on the pie that was crispy and brown was the overhanging bits on the side that were stuck on never to be removed.... More

Our family decided to visit having read through a succession of positive TripAdvisor reviews; sadly, our experience was anything but positive. Our meal was little more than a succession of cooked frozen food ("handmade" burger included), and the much-vaunted big portions were simply due to an abundance of (mediocre) chips. Drive the mile or so to the Wetherspoon in the... More

10 of us visited the restaurant and was greeted warmly. We ordered the drinks then was shown to our table. The menu was easy to read and varied, the specials on the board were very tempting. We had meals varying from pasta to a mixed grill and ALL were freshly cooked, arrived together and were piping hot. Very good portions and... More

The Eight bells serves large portions of great quality food. The staff are friendly and the owner is always very welcoming. I love the garden in the summer with the view over the large pond. Would highly recommend

Stopped at the eight bells for lunch after a heavy morning at work on a trip to the Isle of Wight the food was gorgeous although there was enough for two and I was eating alone I felt the portion could've been much smaller but the venue was clean and tidy there was a huge beer garden which would've been... Dear Sir/Madam, I was a visitor to your pub on Friday (Lunch time) on the 31.07.15. The Fish and chips I ordered: fish frozen (Not fresh) and a very thin/flat. fillet. Batter over-cooked (Nearly burnt) and far too much/thick. Peas frozen, Chips obviously frozen. The worst fish and chips I have had for a very long time. I would have... More
