They try hard, but ...

Nice place, great location. The presentation of the food was great, however the taste was poor. They seem to try too hard to make it look & taste special, but ... the result is below expectations. Good service. Expensive.

We ate at 't Deurtje on our way to a concert in Amsterdam. We found a rather old-fashioned decorated restaurant. As we were the first guests, we only noticed when the (open) kitchen started to prepare our order that the restaurant started to smell of food very badly. The food was okay, but not overly impressive. We went on our... More

Very good food. Cozy atmosphere, even though the restaurant was full we had full attention. The dishes decorated and original. The only pain is getting there, parking is difficult to find and they do not have their own parking space... For the rest - for a romantic moment ask to seat next to the entrance window :-) Great evening, great... More

We chose this restaurant because of its high ratings by other visitors. However, the sea food salad lacked a good dressing, far too much mayonaise and raw fish. When bread was asked for it took 15 minutes before it arrived. The vegetarian hamburger sandwich had raw tofu with a funny anis taste, too salty and too much mayonaise. The other... More

Small restaurant with a mix of Dutch and French styles. Food is excellent and you see they care for it in every small detail. Besides what you order, they keep surprising you with small bites of the chef specials. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Every dish that comes to your table gets explained before you eat. If you really... More

I had been recommended this restaurant by a Dutch colleague, and took some clients from South Africa and Chile there for dinner. It's a lovely little place, with a warm friendly welcome, excellent service (watch out for the potatoes!!) and a great choice on the menu, I had excellent tuna as a starter and then for my main course the... Been there on a sunny Friday for lunch. Lovely setting on the water , very peaceful and relaxing. Oysters - quite good, but if they were served traditionally, on ice, instead of sea salt , might have been better for a very warm sunny outdoors ( just to keep them cooler ). But they were good ( 3€ pp ).... More

Had a business meal here. The waiter was good he knew all about the food. The four course fixed menu was tasty but not to heavy. The location on the banks of the Amstel is very nice and I suspect in summer is perfect for an evening out.

I went there with my wife on a rainy friday night. First time we visited the place. A very pleasant experience. Professional service. Great food for a a very reasonable price. We'll go there again.

It was our first visit, but we invited our client. I was worried if the restaurant is good enough or not. But soon I realized my choice was right. We enjoyed the dinner very much and our client told us he would visit the restaurant again with his family.
