good beer at the bear's Brasserie

There's a bronze bear outside the Brasserie on the main street of Château d'Oex, so you can't miss it as you stroll through this little village. Inside there are locally brewed beers on tap. There aren't a ton of choices in Chateau d'Oex but this was the wrong choice for us. It looks completely cute and lovely and clean, but there really are flies everywhere. We had to wave them away throughout our meal. I actually swatted two with our napkins. Two of my kids got macaroni dishes. The very expensive ($19) "Macaronis de... More

This is a tipical brasserie, where you will find tipical swiss cuisine. It is located in the very center of the town, so it can be crouded. The food is good, and the service Ok.

The good and simple food is nicely presented and the service ok. Their home made beer is also very interesting. The amber beer is the best of the three they brew.

The food is good and even acceptably reasonable by Swiss standards. While the overall atmosphere is pleasant and quiet enough, you have to be very patient for your main course to arrive. The service staff are neither swift nor attentive. On the plus side, however, the restaurant’s little microbrewery is really rather good indeed. Opt for their amber beer and... More

We stopped into picturesque Chateau d'Oex and chose to have dinner here based on TripAdvisor reviews. It is a fun, informal place that brews its own beer and serves a variety of Swiss specialties. The portions are generous and everyone enjoyed their meal (and beer drinkers enjoyed the beer!). The only issue was it seemed that there was a service... More

This bistro-style restaurant is conveniently located across the tourist office, a mere 10-minute walk from the railway station. Staff is welcoming and friendly (speaking French makes things easier, though). However, service speed is very fluctuating. As starter I opted for the onion soup with gratinated cheese: a bit tasteless, nothing to speak home about. The main course was much better:... More

All four of us arrived for an early dinner. 3 of us had macaroni a la maison and one had a fondue. All was readily eaten and declared as a great meal all round. Until next time.
